I meant to post this earlier and just now remembered. Earlier this spring I hooked up my boat to do a trailer light check. Last fall I had a problem where my trailer lights would all flicker whenever I hit a good bump in the road and at the end of the season they just stopped working all together. First thought was ground wire. I was hoping when I checked the lights they would all work but no luck. The trailer has LED lights and everything was dead except for 2 leds' inside my tail running light on passenger side. I disconnected the ground gave it a good inspection and cleaning with a steel wire brush and did the same with the trailer where the ground connects. After reconnecting everything still no lights. I spent alot of time checking fuses and the trailer itself for broken wires and combed the internet until I found something on a forum where the guy was having a similar problem.
It had to do with the swing away tongue on my traile. The trailer is grounded before the swing away and over time there was not enough contact for the ground. The solution was to run a jumper wire from the ground wire in front of the swing away and attach to the trailer after the swing away. I did this and the trailer lights lit up like a christmas tree.
