Well..we spent four days washing lures and drowning worms in the Mud Bay area. Although we finally broke the ice and boated a nice walleye there..the fishing was far from good! We did stop at the final weigh-in of the MWC tourney at Henderson Harbor and found that the fishing was much better down lake a bit. Although none of the guys weighed their five fish limits for both days, there were many nice fish taken (and released). I was told that the best bite was in the top twenty feet of water..even over deep water..and that orange-bellied Smithwick's were the hottest bait. Of course that's about the only lure I didn't try..although we did pull boards running that depth. We'll be back up in a few weeks to try again! By the way..the new auto-pilot is the cats ---! I don't know how I lasted so long without one! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Thanks for the report..sluggo..havent been back over since opening weekend..I hear that the water is still a little cool yet so will wait another weekend. My best luck last year was the first couple of weeks in June..water temp around 53 degrees..pulling boards over 28 to 30 foot , lures down around 10 to 15 feet. husky jerks in fire tiger and blue and silver...headed up to the St Lawrence River down river of Ogdensburg on Monday..there supposedly has been a hot bite on...hope it lasts for a few more days....a little jig fishing i guess. Then will be back on lake the first weekend in June...will let you know how we do
