I saw K.Hynes post last night for an open seat invite and thankfully no else had taken him up on it. We met in Picton at 7am and made our way out to Pryners cove launch. Arrived there to meet a few folks with the same plan. Launch was free of ice and no issues with getting boat in the water. A short 5 minute run and we start to set our first rods. Ken suddenly says "fish on", he didnt even have time to clip the board on. He had just let his line out and had set the rod down to pick up the planer board when it bit. Nice! I was hoping it was a hint of more to come. A few moments later and we are all set up and a board fires but it comes unbuttoned before we could take off the planer. Then we hit a double header. Ken lands his and mine comes off 20 feet from the boat. 2 for 4 fish. a short lul then they started up again and we hit a bunch more fish including another double and ended the day going 14/16 fish. Biggest was just over 11 with the bulk of fish around 8 lbs. We were off the water by 2pm. A couple of the fish bit the Rapala TT20 in blue/chrome, and all the rest of the fish came on white reef runners. Getting the bait down to 25-30 ft was key. Trolling speed was 1.3-1.5 Most times 200 ft line out. One of the fish had a treble hook in its mouth but no bait attached. The highlight of the day was having a treble hook buried past the barb on the web on back side of the thumb :P and having to bring the barb back through the skin so Ken could cut it off with the side cutters.

Awesome job out there guys. INCREDIBLE. I heard of a lot of fish caught out there today. We were slow to find fish but after a few tips from Dan we finished the day with 6 fish (two 12 lbers, a 10, two 9s and a 5 pounder

Again great job for just 2 guys and thanks for the tips.

My best day on the bay for sure and almost did not happen. Glad to get it in and end the 2013 season on a high. It was a lot of fun out there and the weather actually pretty good.

Thanks for coming out Dan and putting us on the fish.

Here is a report I did for my buddies this morning, thanks again Dan.

"Worked like a dog all Saturday getting the Triton thawed and running. At 5:00PM I was confident she was seaworthy. I posted an "open seat" report on the Quinte forums and was filled within seconds, really!

Drank too much wine and could not sleep, woke at 1:30AM and watched TV until 3:30. After loading the truck and hitching up I left the house at 4:25......arrived in Picton at 6:45. Met my guy and grubbed up at Tim's, headed for Pryners Cove launch.....it is way out there. Got the boat rigged up, on the water by 8:00 and a five minute run. I was getting my first line in and grabbed the line to hook up the board....just did not feel right.....fish on!

The action was crazy all day with a couple of minor lulls. We had two double headers, pretty hectic when head on in wind, four lines and two guys in the boat. Most of the fish were 8-9lb class with a new PB for me of 11.1. The fish took RRs, TTs and a Live Target smelt, hot bait of the day was a RR grey ghost. All fish were taken 200-225 back. The tally at the end of the day was 14/17.

Three fish lost, two shakers, I broke a rod tip, Dan put a barb through his hand (which was pushed through and cut off) and had to chase down one board.

All in all, for the second year in a row my best day of the year was the last and on Quinte. The fellow who came out was Dan Elliot, local guru and class act.

We pulled the lines at 1:15, from there, back to launch, back to my cottage parking lot, stripped and winterized the boat (2hours) and home at 7:35PM....suffice to say too baked to do a report last night."

Thanks , it was an awesome day with alot of chaos at times. Ken is a great guy to fish with and if he throws an open seat invite on the board I highly recommend it
