Do you usually have to tune these when they are new?

Seems the only bait I've never have to tune out of the box
are rapalas.

Yes sir....frequently they need to be tuned out of the box...much more then Rapala. Reef Runner sells a tool called tune a fish that is small and does the easiest job (and yes you can use needle nose pliers but the tool is better) of course you can use the tools on other lures.

I like to check mine after landing fish. Sometimes those big girls knock it out of wack

Check beside the boat everytime they go out. Even from new. Takes about 20 seconds too check and tune when you figure it out.

Not sure I know what you mean Joe....do you mean if you catch a fish it can knock them out of tune?

using them for salmon in april is a real joke....those things destroy how they run.

but the damn things work.

also, watch the hooks on reef runners.....not very strong at all.
