Quinte Fishing

Fished with Dusty on sat am and met at the glenora ferry launch along with a dozen other boats. A bit of ice ont he tarmac but after a bit of salt the boat was in the water and we headed east straight up the middle and stopped to set up directly north of keiths. Started setting up first line and still free spooling when my rod tip starts bouncing, engaged the spool and sure enough fish on. The lure would of been floating on top or very close to it and i had only let out about 60 ft when the fish hit. Fish was just under 10 lbs. The wind was blowing pretty good and waves were building. worked all the way down to just before pryners. On that first pass landed 3 fish. All of them were a shad shy of 10 lbs. Decided to move into the bay to find calmer waters to fish. Set up at shermans and fished there for a while with nothing then decided to head towards the cement plant and troll all the way back to the launch again with out much luck.
Would of liked to stayed east but also dont enjoy waves coming over transom/bow of boat
The last 2 fish came on white reef runners both 200 ft back and trolling speed was 1.3-1.7. I think that will probably be it (unless someone has a free seat ) for the softwater. Now time to break out the ice fishing stuff, refill some green propane bottles, sharpen some hooks and give everything the once over in anticipation of the hardwater season

If I understand your talking the small Coleman bottles. How do you do this?

also then did a search on "failed Coleman refilled bottle". I could not find any evidence on a tank actually exploding somewhere, just a lot of warnings and info on what not to do. I choose to not mess around with pressurized flammable gas without knowing exactly what I was doing and bought a 5Lb and a hose for around $60.

To refill your 1LB propane bottles there is an adapter you can buy (got mine at Cabelas) 20 bucks or so had mine for years you put small tank in freezer for half hour or so and your 20 lb. tank needs to be around room temp take bottle out of freezer hook onto adapter and open large bottle time for one minute and shut it off and you are done works great been doing it for years. When you buy the adapter it comes with a set of clear instructions (lay large tank on side nozzle up etc.) good luck

Gotta do something with those 1lb bottles. I use them for lamps and stoves when camping, and i'm offended at the waste they create.

It's not a perfect science though . Your refilled tanks will never be as good as original and you must remember to check the bleeder valve for leaks as they weren't designed for repeated refills. With that being said, I have a refiller. They are hard to find as they are illegal for sale in Canada ( or at least in Ontario ) I've had relative success refilling but also some tanks leak after a refill.
It's a cool option but not perfect.

If anyone needs 1lb refills let me know. Just located between Petes Point and Mass. Charge 2.00/ea or 3 for 5 dollars
