Looking into getting a couple new items this year 2 person shelter / hut ?

Also flasher ?
Looking for some feedback and reviews on what you guys recommend
Or have most of the fishing I will be doing will be on boq and lakes like Simcoe rice lake and pigeon lake

i picked up a 3 person rapela pop up at sail for 160 and a hand auger for 35. not sure if the sale is still on. and princess auto has buddy heaters on for 99.

The portable buddies are all sold out at princess auto in kingston, still have the little buddy and big buddy. I think you can order them online from them. They have some 2 and 3 man pop ups. Bob at Brown bear tackle has a Eskimo 2 man for $186 on sale.

Just emailed Brown Bear about an Ice rod myself and asked if the pop up was still there. He said it was set up on his floor for display so you can take a good look at it they are at 836 Development Drive in Kingston. The Princess auto's are $289 (2 man) and $389 (3 man).

in my personal opinion, I think there are some great products on the market, the Marcum LX series are the top of the line for me. the LCD hi resolution screens are excellent, although a bit pricy, the Hummingbird ice55 is a proven machine and well worth the money, but for the price I found that that the Lowrance elite 4 ice machine, although the screen is small this little machine is a great deal, it comes with GPS all you need is a Navionics chip and you can mark great spots, its also easy to use and a great system for the angler on a budget.

as for huts I have found that Frabill ice huts have the best material for keeping the cold out, however Rapala ice shelters are a great design, A tough choice but for the price I am personally buying Rapala huts this year.

From my experience the ability to move around from spot to spot on the ice is the luxury I have with my Clam Nanook. It's very very quick (2 min tops) to fold up and move to another spot. With the pop-ups, although I have never owned one, I would imagine they are much more involved to pack up and move with ease.
To me ultimately, when i'm out there, I hate to be confined. So with any flip up sled style shelter you have the convenience of a quick pack up, move and re-deploy. Well worth the few extra bucks I (my wife) spent.
That said, I did not spend much on my flasher unit......
For the flasher unit, depending on how much you want to spend and wether or not you want an underwater camera or not I would advise on the Humminbird Ice-35. It's cheap and very effective in the BOQ depths.

frabill is the best hut out there for travelling when on a 4 wheeler or sled cause of the design it lets you carry a passenger with you in the hut its self.and vexilar all the way with a mr buddy and some l e d lights and g p s and a good st croix rod and you should be ready to rock.good luck

Well I got the rapala 2 man pop up was pricy 299 plus hst seems to be easy set up quick
Came with 6 spikes large fishing area so we will see if I don't like it I will grab a rapala cruzer

Easy setup but a pain if you plan on moving around a lot during the day.
Also, don't forget your chairs!

Yeah chairs are a must lol moving around with it will be a pain I think just going to grab a cruze to tow behind atv I think

That said anyone know where I can get the m2 cruzer I am in the Peterborough area don't mind driving I just can't find any around here

Check Sail in Oshawa. I thought I seen them there, but not sure.

Not sure if you can pull a 2 man flipover by hand, so it might be a good idea to keep the popup for times when you can't take the bike out. If your out on a calm day when the winds are low, and you don't have to anchor it down, they're not too bad to move around. If I'm only gonna move a short distance, I don't even fold it up, I just drag it. As mentioned above, a flipover would be a better idea if you're moving a lot, and have a bike.

I would also recommend the humminbird ice 35. Ive marked fish acurately up to depths of 110 ft when fishing for lakers. for $300 its a great deal.
