Will be making the 9 hour drive up friday the 17th and would love any fishing reports for West Lake. Last couple years fishing has been a bit slow :? but after reading some of the walleye reports I am encouraged. Pike and Walleye are the main focus.

Thanks in Advance.
Your brother in rods,
Shad

I have not fished this lake myself but I have heard reports that they are doing quite well for walleye and pike. Lots of numbers but I am not sure of the size.
let us know how you make out.

Stay away from west lake! The water is a sandy-brown with heavy stick weed growth. It is almost unfishable. There are too many jet skis running through the lake scareing the fish. This lake is for PWC only. The sand banks park attracts 20 somethings who love to roar around with scantilly clad young women hanging on to their rear ends for dear life. The beach is nothing but young ladies sun bathing. Some even do it topless! Oh! what the heck go fishing anyhow. Bring a pair of good binoculars. 8O

I wish you were kidding about the water, but it seems I have seen a decline in the last several years we have been coming up.

"The water is a sandy-brown with heavy stick weed growth. It is almost unfishable"???

the lake must have changed a lot in the last two weeks. which i highly doubt. unfishable? the lake gets weedy, but unfishable? come on!

i don't have a boat, so i generally only fish from the pier in wellington. this year i've caught 24 walleye and 3 pike off the dock. generally i catch a lot more pike but this year has been a little different apparently.

when i rent a boat at west lake, i have found that the best spot for bass, pike, & walleye is on the north part of the lake, in front of the island just before you get to the opening to the other part of the lake. the island is on the left side before you get to the opening. that wasn't the greatest description, i know. but i don't have a map to label for you.

hope this gets to you in time.

Lakes looked great, but a cold front moved in and slowed fishing the early part of the week. It did pick up mid week tho.

Unfishable!!!!!!!!!!

Please give ma a break! yes there asre PWC during mid day however they are mainly on the sandbanks shoreline. and dfont arrive until noon and are gone by 5ish. For those who said to keep away you have no idea what youa re talking about I have fished west lake for 30yrs now and am still fishing it. The Pickerel are no huge however we mange to get a few for the pan every time out. lots of pike to be caught and the bass fishing is good as well... I know that some of the "die hard " Bay fisherman lok dwn on the small local lake fisherman but I have left the Bay sunked alot mare than I have East and West Lake!

Thats My 2 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!
