Talking to a reliable source who was fishing on Fathers Day in Mohawk Bay who told me an unusal story.

Fishing with a buddy who threw out a tube jig while drifting, they saw a fish jump and he tightened his line and he had the fish on.

First it was bass, then it pulled too hard, maybe a pike.

Bringing it to the net - a 5 LB RAINBOW TROUT........Isn't that amazing.

You never can tell

By chance were you near Thompsons Point or near Glenora Ferry? I have heard of this in both areas on a rare occasion. I always like to hear about catches that are not the norm in the area.

Many years ago, one could actually catch the odd splake in the Napanee River. I saw it once and did it twice by the falls in Napanee.

Thanks for posting this.
Regards
Don Stokes

Probably about 7 or 8 years ago, while fishin with Tom Gustar, as usual, I caught and landed a Rainbow right in front of the Cement Plant. If memory serves me well, I got it one a blue and silver Hot n Tot and it was around ten pounds! I've got a pic of it somewhere, but what stands out in my memory, is the snow in the pic and the shovel we had in the boat! Snowed all day!

This had to be 20 years ago,me and my buddy Don Derushie and I were fishing off west end of Big Island in chest waders for Pike.We always went over in the spring, nothing like getting a big Gator chest high in water. We just waded out and started casting spoons and bang,he had it on,15 mins later I netted this beauty for him.Got to shore and this fellow came over to see what we had, said been living there all his life never seen a Rainbow caught in the bay.
