There is no slot on Quinte (Zone 20) but you are only allowed one over 24.8"

that's called a regulation. a slot would be no fish kept between 18. and 26 inches. the two numbers make it a slot I wouldn't mind seeing a slot come back it saved a heck of a lot of good breeding size fish but im ok with this new reg also it allows people 4 fish just only one fish over 24.5

Beautiful Fish, too bad you couldn't have taken a few pics with it fresh on the ice

and for anyone thinking that fish should have been released, even given the genuine explanation.....walk the shores from Trenton to Napanee in the spring and see "THOUSANDS" of 10-14lb fish laying DEAD from "SPEAR HOLES"

just say'n

Great Fish catcher! good 4 you!

Also remember, whatever you have caught and may still be in your freezer goes towards your possession limit. So if you are fishing and caught your limit (4 or 2) and you still have some in the freezer from two days before, you are over your limit.

Absolutely not...... 4/2 is a daily limit. You are not over limit if you have some in the freezer from 2 days prior.

Well the possession limit for zone 20 is 4/2 as well so if the fish in the freezer are from Quinte then absolutely yes.

2014 Fishing Regulations, Page 7, Catch and possession Limits:
Catch and Possession Limits – The catch limit is the number of fish you are allowed to catch and keep in one day and includes fish that are not immediately released and any fish eaten or given away. The possession limit is the number you are allowed to have in your possession on hand, in cold storage, in transit, or anywhere. Possession limits are the same as one day’s catch limit except where otherwise specified.

The Provincial possession limit for total walleye from combined zones of is 6(meaning if he has in possession 4 for the bay he cannot keep more walleye from the bay). That means one with 6 walleye in the freezer cannot keep another walleye they must release them. It depends on how many fish the person has in stored possession and the zones they were caught.

While the regulations for a specific Fisheries Management Zone limit the number of fish an individual can catch and retain from that zone, provincial possession limits limit the total number of fish of a given species a person can have in their possession (including storage) which have been harvested from more than one zone. Always check the regulations for the zone in which you are fishing to ensure that you aren’t exceeding the catch and possession limit for that zone.
