1st time to BOQ Great place!!

My wife and I visited BOQ for the 1st time on June 23-June 27th and had a great time!! I had been traveling all the way to Foleyet in northern Ontario for 20 yrs.Great fishing but 900 miles from Pa.BOQ was only 350 miles and the fishing was close to being as good as the far north.Even though my wife had never even casted a lure before she did great and managed to land probably a dozen walleyes 20 pike(biggest one 31") and several bass in our 3 days there with the last day finding big bay totally calm with no chop.I caught (and released) a 37" pike and even caught a 30" channel cat on a daredevele! several largemouth bass up to 18" even though at no time did we target them.They were a byproduct of casting for pike and trolling for the walleyes.We are coming back again later this year and was wondering if anyone could tell us how the fishing is in Sept in BOQ.Looking forward to returning and seeing those beautiful sunsets;)Hopefully I learned a little about the fishing here in BOQ and will do even better next time up!

Mike the fishing can be great in september but it seems bass fishing usually is strong. The walleye tend to slow somewhat in anticipation of the late October-November timeframe when the large ones move in.
The weather is usually great and there is hardly anyone around. ...larry

Glad the fishing was successful and that you'll be be back later this year.

Read the board and see how things are doing.

Another tip might be to review the archives and see what happened last Sept. Gives you some idea as to what has occured.

Thanks guys! Actually I did start to check out the archives from last year and was thinking maybe mid to late Oct might be better,realizing of course that the weather might not be as nice.How is the Pike fishing up there sept,oct? Would be nice to try and get in on some of the big walleye action though.The biggest one I ever caught in all those years up north was 26".Well I will hopefully have many more chances to try early and mid fall as we plan on coming up several times a year from now on;)

Just curious. I've always wanted to catch a Channel cat on the BOQ. Can you give me some info? Where abouts? Near Napanee or Glenora side? Feet of water. Were you trolling or casting. What time of day. If its not too much trouble

we caught a couple trolling infront of big island with spinning rigs and worms...using bottom bouncers to keep the rigs on contact with the bottom.

We were casting for Pike in a weedbed near Big Island.About 4pm I believe.The night before I had caught the 37" pike in the same spot and thought I had another big northern on.As the fish got closer to the boat I realized the shape was all wrong for a pike and my first thought was I had hooked one of the Big BOQ walleyes I had heard so much about;) but instead it was a big channel cat around 30".The lure was a black&Yellow daredevele,Hope that helps!
