That's called Tommy Tape. It fuses to itself. I can take it off and there is no mess on the cork.

I didn't want a reel seat because I wanted to keep the weight down. You wont pick up a lighter 32" stick! I'll be honest with you though. If I did it all over again I would get their locking Tennessee handle, which would be even more custom, but would be an extra $65. That's the best thing about custom rods. You order them the way you want!
