Started out at huffs we fished around huff;s for about 2 hrs got 1 2lber in boat and lost another small one.headed up to thomson point around 11:30 am.Fished the point fro 3 hrs and landed 30 walleye between 3 people. all were 2 lbers and smaller except one 8 lber and a 9 and a half.The OPP came by and told one boat to leave and then came over to us to make sure we had safety equipment .We had evrything except a whistle so we had to leave the lake .we got all our fish n a one ounce pink and green fire ball jig right off the bottom .I hope this helps and tight lione and good fishing.

That was us they told to get off the water. Just my rotton luck, all excited in the mnorning to go out fishing, forgot my wallet at home. No ID. not even a fishing licence on me!
The person asked me where my numbers were for my boat? I went "huh?' I looked to see and of coarse, they were not there. I have owned this boat since new in Nov of 99 and not once did I realize I had no numbers on the boat! I was very lucky to only get charged for not having numbers in valid location. That is when the nice COP said" I won't be seeing you on the water again til you have numbers and PROPER identification again, will I!"

Could have been alot worse. I have to thank the gentlmen for being so lienient on me.

The next day,Sunday, I was looking forward to seeing them on the water again just to give myself some satisfaction of being not lead to be guilty.

We were the other boat near you guys, the green Lund. The OPP came back out after they busted you and checked me out. I had everything but he did not like the size of my fire extinguisher, said it was too small and sent me to Canadian Tire to get a new one. When I got home I checked the regs and I was OK, the one I had was the appropriate one. Anyway, I have a new and improved version now so I hope he comes to visit again. At least he was pleasant enough about it.

Ron, were you the one he took over to the lee shore? You were so long we figured you were going to be hauled away in chains!

Glad you guys caught fish too, it was fun out there.

Yes it was us he took over to the lee ward side. The one cop explained it to me this way.

"You have to look at it in our veiw, right now we have to assume this boat is stolen, you have to prove to me otherwise!"
I went Rut ro, I got nothing, nota, nil, zilch zip. Man am I in a big heap of doo doo!

He explained to me the amount of fines that would accumulate in excess of 600.00
Not to mention that if the C.O. was with him, they could have taken my boat and all our gear involeved in fishing that day!

Put a big scare in me I tell ya. I even wore my seat belt home!

Ya we saw u guys get taken to the other show and we thought u guys were getting a handfull of tickets

We were told to get off the water when our friend who is by the way 300 plus :lol:

and the opp told him to
try on his life jacket ...he took off both of his jackets and struggled to get it on..thats when the opp asked him how safe he felt lmao..i had to help him remove it hahahahaha.We plan on going out there this saterday again with the right size life jacket and hope we get some more good fish.See you guys soon ...tight lines and good fishing

I was out saturday night and had a visit as well. I didn't have asealed flashlight, and my extinguisher was too small. Had to leave the water as well....Larry

Hey Ron. Just so you don't let the cops get the best of you listen to this. Regarding the cop's statement " you have to look at it from our point of view.....assume the boat is stolen". It says in the Canadian Bill of Rights, which by the way is superior to statute law ,that you have the right to be assumed innocent until proven guilty.Weve all heard this axiom before but we don't fully understand the power of our rights. A cop therefore has no authority to assume you stole that boat as it is in contravention of your rights. It is up to him to prove it is stolen.My attitude is that they are still supposed to be PUBLIC SERVANTS and it's high time they got reminded of that when they step across the line. The problem is that we need to know when they have crossed the line or they will simply do as they feel at the given moment.I get annoyed at the increasing " police state " we are subjected to in this country. Fishing, snowmobiling,driving. What's next, fornicating.

You know the saying ignorance is no excuse .Everybody knows they have to have there boat registered,Everybody knows what safety equipment they need,Everybody knows they need a pfd that fits.Ect Ect Ect.

I agree that the Police do overstep their bounds and abuse their power. On the same note I wouldn't recommend reminding them that they're "public servants". I think this would be along the same lines as someone saying to them after getting pulled over for a speeding ticket and telling them... "I pay your salary with my taxes". Why give them a reason to tack on more fines and face their version of a proctologist exam by making an already uncomfortable and inconvenient situation worse? I'm not taking the side of the cops (believe me, they've given me enough misery throughout my life), just my two cents. I've also been stopped by quite a few OPP this summer and I've had some super nice guys and I've also had some real pricks.

I agree that pointing out that they are public servants is risky but siting facts from the Bill of Rights is not. I always have the necessary things on my boat to shut them up so I can get as arrogant with them as I wish to if they want to play that game.It is not a cop's job to protect your rights , it's your own job.These rights were put in place to protect you from an over zealous government and/or any of ther constituents.The U.N. Charter of Rights is very powerful as well and was written by a Canadian.I am more than respecful to these people as long as they are the same to my rights.God created man, man created goverment. The created can never be greater the creator.

Here in B.C. we are now required to take a course and obtain a boat operators license!?! Even boaters with a lifetime of experience must
do so or face penalties. This, along with mandatory gun registration,
higher fishing licence fees, surcharges, more and more gates locked every year at formerly accessible wilderness areas, higher camp site fees,
fishing restrictions up the ying yang etc., etc. means one thing.A continued erosion of the rights of outdoor sports enthusiasts all
over this country. Over regulation every where you turn. The cops have
no business being out there harassing you or me about no whistle or the
wrong sized fire ext. If you,ve got the guts to be out there fishing in the freezing cold, thats your and my business and no one elses.They are enforcing regulations brought about by the insurance industry having lobbied governments to bring down claim rates! They really don,t care if you drown, except if it costs through law suits and insurance claims.
The way I see it anyway.

I agree Wulf.In fact I will go one step further and call the whole damn thing another form of taxation. Lets make up a bunch of reasonable sounding regulations under the guise that they are all for our safety and welfare and then attach a bunch of fines for non-compliance.That way no-one realizes the true intension of what is going on. People just walk into the trap like a spider web. If you got a fine for every rule you broke that you never even knew existed you would be perpetually broke.There is a guy in T.O. that has fought and won ( by himself) EVERY SINGLE TRAFFIC VIOLATION he has ever gotten.Therefore I am driven to the conclusion that these regulations must be a civil rights violation. The problem is that most fines are just small enough to be not worth a day off work to fight.Therefore qualifying as another damn tax.
