I was wondering that myself! Looks like it was a good day's work and a hell of a lota beers!

Once the ice got thick enough, we chainsawed all around it and I made a couple boxes that slid in under the skiis. We anchored in my buddies argo and winched it out.
Less than an hour from start to finish.

My buddy wasn't as lucky, because he had a shingled roof, when his went through it flipped over completely. All that was showing were the skiis.
That was an all day adventure, we had to lift it like lifting a cottage.

Here is one I made last year, a dewalt folding style, customized to fold via three end panels so it can fold down and fit inside my car. 6' x 10' set up, folds down to 2' x 6' x 10" high. Heated with a wood stove made out of an old ammo can:

And here is a new one I just finished building, it will be on the ice somewhere off Big Island this coming Saturday:


It is 5' wide, 6' long and 5' 7" high. Folds down to a box-like package so i can carry/ store gear inside, 2' wide by 23" high by 6' long, so it can also fit in the car:

I had an 8x8 hut on skis but had to fish it out of the ice 3 time one year so I built 6x10 with fold up axles. Now it comes off ever trip. Sets up in minutes

These home built huts bring back great memories. Back in the early eighty's the mouth of the Trent River would have a small community of these huts. A lot of us would spend nights in them and we even had the pizza guy do deliveries using our registration numbers.

This is my "run and gun" hut that I just finished last month. framed is 1" x 1" aluminium tubing and sheathed with 1/8" chloroplast (sign material). Weighs about 200 lbs all in. It pulls real easy. I use my ATV to run in onto my flat bed trailer, tie er down and go. I have yet to get the floor bloody With the cost of materials and time i put into this thing I could have stocked my freezer with steak and lobster for 2 seasons.

Kase ordering pizza. That would be wicked.
We had a nice feast of bacon and fried potatoes.....the extra bonus is we use the bacon grease to get the stove started now. fire and bacon smell cant go wrong.

TRYZ2FISH cool set up. reminds me of ones i have seen on youtube "darkhouse" spearing huts

Moonman love the ammo can stove. I have plans for one that i have been tinkering with.

Iceman that too bad to hear. these are extraordinary recoveries. I do own a portable too but nothing compares to getting your feet off the ice, being down to a t-shirt even though its -20 out. but to each their own.

Zingerman Whats the outer skin of your hut? looks super light. any issues with wind?

The skin material is called chloroplast. its the same material that those lawn signs are made from. looks like corrugated cardboard but its a plastic material. Very lightweight and waterproof! It comes in 4' x 8' sheets and cuts with a shape knife. These can be purchased from a plastics distributor and costs around $15 - $20 per sheet. If the hut is attached to the ATV or Sled no worries about it blowing away but as a stand alone you would need to keep an eye on the wind conditions.
