Tough question to answer unless you have tried out all the different units. Nothing to compare to. I've had a Bird 45 for 4 years now, and don't see any reason to change, so my answer is "Bird is the Word!!!!"

Having never used anything other than my Vexilar fl8, I couldn't even begin to vote on other brands, pro or con.
I would love the opportunity to try them all out. At least then I could make an educated decision.

So if there are any company reps out there, that would like an unbiased opinion on their products please contact me and I'll gladly fish every day if needed. LOL

I fished for a number of years with Humminbird (500 series and 300 Series) with an ice transducer for ease and they did exceptionally well as I prefer a real time vertical display and history over a flasher any day of the week.... but after buying the Marcum LX7 this year ... I am completely sold on Marcum!! I have been able to add the depth zoom at custom depth settings to my usual views and it is amazing for the finesse work with fussy eyes! Going to be trying it out soon in deep water for lakers and I only expect that I will love it even more!

The only flasher I will use, is the type to recharge or energize my glow spoons or flies. Didn't see it listed though.

I'm a bird man. Been running an ICE 55 for 3 seasons now. I have friends with ICE 35, ICE 45, LX5, LX7, LX9, Fl8, FL28, FL20. Ya know what? They all help us catch more fish than when we used to fish blind. The new Marcums LX7 and LX9 are kick ass, and full of features. If your a "techy" guy you want to look at those.

Personally, I have had great luck with my ICE55. It's easy on the battery, and easy to use.

ICE 55 for me. I had a marcum lx-1 and it was a nice unit for the cash. I'd consider dropping a grand on the marcum LX9 if I had that kind of play money.
