Hope everyone has finished digging out from the last snowstorm...for me, I don't know where I'll put the snow when we get more...
So last Monday (Feb 3), headed back to Quinte...figured with the storm approaching, hopefully the 'eyes might want to play....
Got to big island about 9am, (keep hearing about the morning bite, but can never seem to make it), anyway, after parking at the farm and having to walk down the street to easier access, (the snow was piled up over the normal access point), walked out about a kilometre again...a walk that was more a leisurely stroll than an aerobic workout heart attack. The 'smitty sled' I built made life 10 times better....thanks to those that replied and sent pics of theirs it sure helped a ton.
Some clouds floating around, almost no wind, and a balmy -5 degrees....Got into about 18 fow...and had a nice eating 3 pounder on the ice at about 11:30...after that the partial cloud covered dispersed and had full sunshine, marked fish sporadically throughout the afternoon curiously looking at my selection but no takers...
Thus went the day till about 5:10 in the evening (sunset was 5:22), when 3 nice marks appeared on the flasher (how did I ever fish without one before, oh yeah that's when I got skunked all the time, still do but that's diminished)...they were a bit aggressive, chasing my lure all over. By 5:30, 2 of the 3 marks lay on the ice. The 3rd taunting me to no avail, I swear it must've been giving me the bird....ended up going 3 for 3, it was tough fishing but hey, yummy yummy yummy I've got fish in my tummy...
