Just wondering if there is any tips on settings for shallow water fishing... 10fow or less. Is the only way to lower the signal strength (lure returning a big mark) by turning down sensitivity? If I'm in 10fow or more its no problem.

I use a Bird 45, and when fishing shallow water it drives me nuts. Just too much happening on the screen. Everything is a blurr. If your only in 6-10 FOW your cone isn't very wide to begin with. Pretty much useless as far as I'm concerned.

I just move my seat closer to the hole, and look down. No need for a flasher... 8)

This is.what I.was looking for :) usually if its clear enough I sight fish that shallow but the river is moving so fast, clarity is too low for sight fishing even in 4 fow. I just wondered if turning the sensitivity down was the same as turning down gain and whatnot on a vex or other flasher. If I turn down sensitivity until I just barely read my jig, will big fish still show up as solid marks? Thanks for the input guys :)

the fish will still show as relevant marks to your lure if you can mark your lure it will deff mark the fish well.. when we were out the other night remember how i had my vex set low but we still marked fish really well my lowrance is the same.

I was fishing in 6 FOW a few weeks ago, and I found the screen was just cluttered up steady with small marks, right from top to bottom. I'm assuming it was air bubbles and debris from pounding the lure on bottom. I could barely see my lure half the time. The screen would clear up a bit when I let my lure stand still, but as soon as I hit bottom again, or jigged aggressively , the clutter would come back. Not quite as bad in 8-10 feet, but terrible in 5-6

I had my gain turned down as low as possible. Just high enough to mark my lure. Does nobody else see this??

i see it on all my units if i have any interference, anyone fishing around you? try turning your interference rejection on? i get it the odd time as soon as i drop a bait down or if the transducer gets bumped or moved by current as well

I use the elite 4 and my friend uses a vex fl8 I believe but with the tri beam I know he has issues with his being to powerful for that shallow but mine seems to work great I just tone down the color setting and surface clarity to high sometimes even to 200mhz and clears up I have also picked up alittle info from the Kingston board that's seemed to help ill try and post the picture but never have from phone so no promises sorry

Weeds around you in you come angle that might not be directly below your lure especially in current can also cause this issue
