Congrats on the Big Gold Nugget Grant. My first trip to BOQ was going to be guided by Grant unforntuately the weather took a turn for the worse & it didn't pan out. I remember though Grant told me a few safe spots to fish if I still wanted to go & some techniques. I ended up going & the ice was dicey like he said but I got my first big walleye, most likely a 9er & haven't looked back since. Nice to see a local guy that's put in the time get the record.

Grant certainly deserves this record - he put a lot of time and thought into this but, reading the article, I cannot help but feel irked by the brand name-dropping. Will he be or was paid by the lure co and sonar co to mention their names? It smells of advertising. Being a guide, I wonder if he was sponsored by them?
However, I would have to say it is a very common practise for pros to mention brand names. I've bought lures on pro recommendations but only to find out are not successful. Just wondering...
