I went to Sherman's on Sunday afternoon and the place was empty, nary a soul to be seen far in each direction (last-minute walleye hang-over?). I started straight out into the deepest part, moved around at least 10 times, zippo, not even a nibble. While I was hole-jumping, I noticed a hut set up near the shore so I huffed my way closer to shore and after moving around a bit, I found my "honey hole." The perch were all dinks but at least I was not stunked; they were biting on a green jigging rap in about 18 FOW and were not interested in a Genz jig. I will try Pointe Anne after work today and will report.

You just cant beat the real thing (shinners). Last week on simcoe my bud tried everything artificial but no luck. i was sitting next to him and I iced perch one after another. Same thing on Lake Erie. Nothing beats the nice minnows if you can get em.

I agree that minnow parts work great for perch...but I don't catch many on full live minnows at all. I will get a few, but do much better with a minnow head on small spoon or small jiggin rap. Not sure why that is, I've caught 14" jumbos on a tiny minnow head that wouldn't touch a full minnow yet it puked up a 3.5" minnow??

All the perch I have caught this year have been on a small orange buckshot (painted not the holographic ones) and an orange forage minnow with a full small minnow attached. I did not do as well with only the head so it all depends on the combo I suppose. Brown Bear tackle in Kingston have a good supply of small minnows that are the perfect size for perch.

I've found small pieces of worm works well and have started to use minnow parts or whole small minnows. My go-to lures are small green or blue rapala, Genz jigs and Williams spoon. Recently, I've been trying with 2 lures, a spoon/rap on the bottom and a jig 8 inches above but have not seen enough perch to say if this rig works.

It's on development drive down from raxx.

Bath road to gardiners road then onto development. It's in the small plaza with the convenience store about a mile down

I have a lot of luck using worms, minnow heads (all kinds) and maggots (you get them at the pet shop). I use some sort of rattling jig, but have caught them on jig n raps too.

I like using a small jigging rap with a Minnow head. Has anyone been fishing around the Hay Bay church or down in the lower end of Hay Bay. If so any big perch caught. Would like to take my daughter out at least one more time this season and perch are great for kids and adults alike.

Thanks
Terry

Hey Terry, took my kids out Sunday off the third concession road where my uncle Jim has a spot of land. Fished from 1-3:30, caught about 10, all dinks. Action seemed to start at 3:20 but my girl put her foot down a hole as I was getting organized to pack up. The reports I've got all season is that the jumbo fishing has been tough all season.
The popular opinion amongst the old timers is that the fishing will eventually pick up there at some point, but when, who knows.
