Well I have been going over my winter fishing diary and I notice not 1 single entry....another banner year staying away from "ice fishing" Those years of therapy were not wasted. I can't wait till mid June to put the boat in...

In my opinion, you're missing out on the best time of the year to fish the bay, for me 95% of my fishing is done in the winter.
I would consider another therapist, that isn't a woman that doesn't like the cold. LOL

I have to side with middlewick.....I took my therapist (wife) walleye fishing with PB&J last June and to my surprise she didn't even take her book out of her bag, she was focused on the rods and fishfinder and thanks to Joe she felt very comfortable on the boat. We have since booked a salmon day with Bay of Quinte Charters in July and this Saturday we are going perching on the St Lawrence, so get your therapist out for a day and have some fun.........hard water can be a bit boring but its the company you keep while your out there that makes the day........

I don't blame you Jim. Nothing beats dragging boards and the anticipation of the clicker going or a rigger popping.

I second that... I turned Fourty last weekend and had not ice fished in 25 - 30 years. I met Tyler Kurt one day by chance fishing from shore in the fall and he told me about this site which led me to the ice . I have been out 20+ times between the bay and some back lakes and caught a few nice walleye, a few lakers and lots of perch and it has been the best winter I have had in years. Heading for crappie this weekend and then going to try for some splake again next week before the ice is gone. It has been good for the soul and also for the health, I don't have any health issues and am not over weight but yesterday I was shocked when I was able to button up old pair of snow pants that I use for snowblowing the driveway that I have uses the belt strap on for the past five or six years to keep them up. I guess dragging that sled across the ice is good exercise, .
