It seem, s that I have read more negative reports than ever this year , not really sure why .....just a observation. ?..this site is for information .....to share or to give , but it seem's that a lot of people have come on here to stir up things ....maybe they just like the drama
I have noticed that there are less posts showing actual fishing reports than there have been in the past ....I believe this is because you put it on the internet and they will come ....and I mean all of them...lol, but I also know a few that have posted and show there catch , and then people have followed them around till they find their spot's
I have used the private message part of this forum more .......and seem to get more info that way than anything ....BUT you also have to be willing to share info back the same way ...fair is fair
Sometimes I think okay ....I have had enough of listening to what I think is worse than my 12 year old son ....than I think no......my 12 year old is more mature than some of the people on here.....and then I think about about some of the people that I have met here..... and some of the people I have never met but have had some good information exchanged back and fourth........then I know why I come to this site
I thank Dan for making this site ....but wish he and the moderators could do more about the negative people on this site, but that would probley mean kicking them off .....and that's not what most people want......you know free speech and all ....I'm okay with everbody have their opinions ....I have mine ....just wish people here would just try and get along and act better than a 12 year old

I agree with your statements, but I think this is one of the most civil sites that I have seen and it may be that a lot of the guys are connected and have become friends. (Or it could be the Canadian presence) I take the posistion that when I post I try to do it as if I was talking to the person. There are a lot of really good guys on here that are helpfull and honest. Then again these boards are a slice of life nowadays.....of course I am stupid enough to post with my real name.

I hear you guys. As one of the moderators, I have had to delete some posts and edited a few over the years. I try not to and I hate it when I do because everyone has an opinion and the right to be heard. But when it goes beyond a point in the post and just an attack is where I draw the line. Sometimes these posts happen quickly and aren't seen until after the fact and it's too late and the snowball effect kicks in.

We all know by now fishing and hunting is a controversial topic on its own. And with more and more people around and everywhere becoming more accessible, places are bound to become more pressured which can also lead to more controversy.

But this can lead to discussions and many valid points are brought out as a result. The hard part is keeping these points civil, understanding the ideas and respecting others opinions in the process.

i'd say of every board i visit, this board does the BEST JOB of allowing opinions, feeling, and other information that could be considered "right of centre".

Thanks for all that you do (including the moderators, whom I don't know really who you are, as there rarely is a time that a mod has to step in)....

I really like the fact that Dan allows information, good or bad, on products, and doesn't delete stuff if it is against a board sponsor (within reason).

I agree with you Steve and this is without a doubt the best board on the net and Dan does a great job as well as the moderators. I have seen some very good things brought on by this board from friendships to information and how to tips as well as the Battle of the bay that helps out a bunch of kids. It has it's fair share of pot stirrers that seem to feed of negative stuff but hey you will get that anywhere. People can disagree and that is fine as long as you agree to disagree in a civil manor. For the most part I have never had a problem on here but find myself biting my tongue on certain things as I feel it would only start a fight so I refrain from commenting on many things. I myself love to help a guy get out and catch a fish and have some fun and spend quite a bit of time answering private messages and I also like to post good and helpful information. I was quite overwhelmed this year with the amount of guys that offered to help me get out for a fish as both Donna and I have had some serious health problems that have keep us grounded all season. This board has developed good friendships amongst many of it's members as I see it quite often were guys are helping each other out and joking around with each other and having a pretty good time. I would like to thank all you guys for who you are and what you have to say and how you all contribute to the best board on the net.... Fred....

I think most will agree that we don't want Dan or the mods to not allow us to speak our minds or to have an opinion ....but it just seems that more and more there is someone that comes on to stir the pot because they like the drama , that is the negativity here that I would like to see stop ....i don't for one minute think that we can contol everything said here ,but the people that come to disrupt everything and just cause trouble should be dealt with accordingly....I know this has happened a couple times this year .
I would like to hear more constructive discussions .....this post was not to shut everybody up.....I also believe that this is one of the better sites and would like to keep it that way......as Fred said sometimes you don't say anything..... you just bite your tongue......and let it go...lol

Thanks for speaking up because I agree to an extent with points you raise. I have never posted forum rules for using the board as most folks use common sense here but you're right there seem to be some people here that common sense ain't so common and others who are just here to stir the pot. I hate to ban folks from posting or ban them from being able to read the board but have/will do just that. No one should have to worry about posting here because someone will jump on what they said, criticize their report or even correct their spelling. If you cant move the discussion forward, share or add anything useful, in a tactful manner, then just don't post.
I am happy with the good nature of this community. Folks generally like to be helpful, point others in the right direction and share what they can without driving the crowds to their spots. I cant count how many times someone has lost something and had it returned through this board or been saved from unnecessary headache or loss because of the help of members here. There are a lot of good folks here.

A solution to stop users from repeatedly butting heads with the same people would be adding some sort of privacy feature like there is on facebook to allow individual members to block certain users from reading or commenting on their posts or sending them PM'S. This would take the load off the moderators having to completely ban people and eventually those few people who do regularly try to stir up the pot will get blocked so often they will just go away. Another thing that could be added is a user rating voting system with a +/- scale or a thumbs up/thumbs down to a user's posts and comments this would give insight new users on the board of what type of person they are dealing with.

Wasn't this a negative post? I like it here and find it a helpful / generally friendly board. I've met great people and learned alot here.

this site has been pretty damn good for info some good some bad big deal it's fishing .most people who post here are solid some not. Got to laugh ! as for the facbook thing maybe we all could take selfies . I hope not . most people stretch words & meanings when not face to face just seems to be the way of late.Everyone fish & play safe will post results from opening for pickerel ha ha

Lol, no selfies please. "Facebook" was just an example. I am an IT consultant and am on forums all the time (tech support forums) which usually have some sort of contributer rating system so I was just putting in my 2 cents. I love this forum and the info i get here is usually much better information than i get on the tech support ones, lol. I have yet to but heads with anyone and have connected with some truly great people.

You're wrong!!!! You don't know what you're talking about!!!!! I've never read and/or participated in any negativity on this site!!!! hehehe.

More and more everyday it seems societal deterioration is growing at a good clip and that is a shame to say the least. It does get a little tense here from time to time but overall this board is one of the better ones around and I think its due to the quality of most of the members that offer a civilized and well balanced approach and also moderators that allow a discussion to run its course. Both have have also shown the ability to reel it back in when need be. The long hard winter might have a little to do with how more amped than usual people have been lately.
