I found it to be a very slow winter all around at Loughborough. Both off of Sydneham and closer to the narrows. The best year I had was two years ago when we were constantly marking smelt on bottom in the far West end even catching a few, this year we weren't marking any at all it seemed. who knows maybe i just picked the wrong days! I did miss something big jigging my bait at 20 ft over 60 FOW just to switch it up. would have liked to net that baby!
About 4 yrs ago the stocking on Lobo went from about 40k fish a year to 8k every second year. This was to reduce the numbers to have a more healthy baitfish and therefore laker population. So basically less fish but bigger, no more lakers that had the body of eels. Smart decision in the long run but I think but we are seeing the effects of it now, there are some slow days out there for sure but everything goes in cycles. Less people will fish it next year because of how slow it has been which will help the stocks; they will recover and fishing will improve etc etc.
