It had been far too long since I was on the water.

Only had the morning but figured I couldn't pass up this beautiful day. Launched for sunrise ... cold air and cold water. Zero degrees air and 34 degrees water. Took a little while to find some warmer water, but once we found some 36 we picked up a couple small fish.

Tighter rollin' Yozuri and Bagley took our first two fish...

The sun started hotter and the shallows warmed to 36 - 37 degrees. Found a couple mud lines and worked some wider wobblin' baits for a couple bigger fish.

The lake really flattened out making the final fish tough to come by. However, as the surface temps peaked at 37 degrees my trusty orange yozuri fired for the last fish of the day.

Didn't get much deeper than 20' .... didn't get a fish deeper than 15'.

Fun first outing for 2014.

Well done guys - nothing like that first spring soft water trip. Unfortunately we still have a good wait before we're able to do the same.

Steve

You beat us again getting out on the big lake. Way to go with the browns,

We're still waiting and planning and planning and waiting.

thanks guys.....

it was a long winter, especially considering the lack of fishing I did in October/November/December (3 of my favourite months for fishing).

I'm hoping 2014 will be a better year.

David, I'm quite sure you'll be out there soon....and those beaches will be waiting for you :)

man, she musta been hiding in my livewell :)

However, now that I think about it, she must have been cold in there, as I just "MAY" have left my livewell full of water (don't know how) last fall.

Let me send some "warming" vibes out your direction .... soon my friend, soon.

Some pretty nice browns, you are making me jealous. Hoping to give it a try soon as the boat gets out of the ice in my garage. Everything is frozen in this year.
