With the help of Kevin Gibson & Ed Brady the Wellington Beach St. launch is now free of ice.

Yes you can make it to the lake David.

I don't know how open Athol Bay is to date.

Well done Al. Thank you for your countless hours of effort towards the fishery. Karma should give you the KOTL win this year!

I'll get a picture of Athol bay tomorrow. There is shore ice but the bay broke up and blew out today.

I just got back from the launch and noticed that someone had opened it up .Awesome job men and many thanks. I walked out to the light house and took a peak around . There is about a 20 foot band of slushy pack ice that was in the mouth of the inlet. That was moving with the wind across the inlet , but once you banged your way through that it looked pretty clear . Looked like there is still ice on shore along beach that went out about 10-20 feet into the water. I would say just a few more warm days and the water should warm up a little in the shallows.
Pretty neat on the way home we saw a snowy Owl on the hydro wire looking for a meal , we stopped right under neath it and it hardly even looked at us , some blue herons flying the other day and have heard the Killdeer birds around . Spring is in the air.

Not a hit for us today. Beautiful to be on the water again. Sometimes you don't need fish to have a good time. What a relaxing day.

Scott - I could not agree more with the above - nothing compares to the first soft water shakedown trip of the season when the weather co-operates. Still looks like a little too much ice for me - maybe soon.

Hey Dave,

don't worry about your boat, just borrow the air in the driveway next door and away you go!!!!

A bit of a problem trolling that craft :D :D :D

Toured the County this AM and saw Athol Bay also.

Here's my Shot;

The ice is covering some of the prime water - have to wait a bit longer - IMHO
