Quinte Fishing

I have for for you guys out there. I'm looking at getting a new outboard motor not sure what motor to get. I have no really preference I just want a motor that's going to run great every time I get it on the water. Any info you guys can give me much appreciated.

have a look at the motor that doesn't even have a choke....cause its not needed.

five, sorry, six years without turning the key twice to start it....

My Yamaha worked flawlessly too. Until one fait-full day it slipped into a limp mode. It would idle fine, but anything above that it would cough and sputter and had no power.
So I googled dealerships and found that the only one in the area was Hastings marine. I called them up, and they gruffly explained that they could have a look in about 6-8 weeks, and that my wait time would begin as soon as my boat was parked in there lot.
As it was the first week of May at this point, I was unwilling to part with my boat for the spring, and possibly summer too, I broadened my search and found SeaWay marine in Ajax. They got me in quite quickly, and were great to deal with, but seemed to have very limited mechanical knowledge, and after a week of part changing had given up.
While this was going on I started to look into re powering, and found that there are at least 6 Mercury dealerships in my general area, some of witch I had delt with.
Made the trip up to Ajax to collect my unfixed boat, and found that SeaWay happened to have a gently use 4 stroke EFI 60horse tiller Merc. It fit the bill perfectly.
I made the leap about 6 years ago now, and have had no issues since.
I must admit that one of my main reasons for switching was dealer support. And even though i haven't needed it, I still take comfort in the fact that there are many dealer options if I do.

To date, even though my yammy was awesome, the Merc still tows the kids and I on wakeboards, wake skates, skis, and even a three man tube, and breaks ice spring and into winter (I just don't post it because I never catch any fish..lol)

So in the end, I'm not sure where you live but I would keep parts and service in mind...they all need it eventually

I've had 2 Suzuki 4 strokes and the only problem has been thinking my gas gauge isn't working it sips the stuff. Hadleys has been good in all my dealings

i use CO2 Inflatables in Oakville or Bay City Marine in Hamilton.

Any Yamaha dealers near Quinte? I may have overlooked them if so.

Well, I have 150 HP H.O. Evinrude ETEC that makes my boat fly like a scared cat.

I definitely recommend a Yamaha. lol

I have a 20 hp. 4 stoke Honda with electric start alternator and power tilt Not trim but tilt and yes there is a difference. The only work ever done to it has been plug replacement lower unit oil replacement and water pump impeller replacement along with oil and filter every year. its 2004 model. It has never given me grief just use hi test and its golden with my 14 foot aluminum and the four blade prop I can hit over 25 mph. I have even stunned a few larger boats with the sped. Its a great motor would buy another one in a minute.

the best 4 stroke on the market today is Tohatsu,they build all of Mercury's powerheads up to 40hp,and the BRP small motors to 15hp,full five year warranty,and unlike anybody else you get your tank and line included with the motor,on the small ones up to 20-25hp,they sell tons of 20hp power trim tillers,their larger motors up to 250 hp,come with control box,tach,wp guage and fuel/water separator included, the new 50hp 4 stroke only weighs 217lbs,and can idle down to walleye trolling speeds with the bump of the key (troll control),they have great pricing til the end of April. I've ran the 15hp pro kicker,with control box.power trim and remote steering,great motor,like it way better than the Honda 15 I have now,be switching back.

Had a 90 merc 4 stroke for the last 11 years. Turn the key and go.
No problem.
Sold the boat today, now into a 175 E-Tech...need more range.
