Quinte Fishing

Good Day. I've been to the bay a few times, we stay on Big Bay Island. We normally head down around the second week of June. We've had some success on the Big Bay shoal and off a couple points in the area. This year we are going down for 2 weeks staring right after May 24. I'm still learning how to fish this Bay of yours and was wondering what the usual pattern would be around this timeframe? My thought is that by going up earlier than we have been chances might be better in that area?????? Thanks Don

Flicker shads...1.8-2.2 mph any hump or bump, and lots scattered on the flats too. Hit a waypoint every time you get a fish and you'll soon see a pattern

Hot-n-tops when the temp rise a bit.
If cranks aren't working slow down and use bouncers and harnesses.

Ps keep a watch out for illegal, unmarked nets.. They make for nasty tangles.

Thanks for the tips. Much Appreciated. How bout my idea that fish should still be in that section if we go earlier? I've heard that we should try the Narrows and out front of Cement plant as well. Thanks Don

As soon as the water temps start to warm up a bit, and there is some significant weed growth, it's time to put the trolling gear away, and break out the bucktail jigs and crankbaits. You may be coming at the perfect time!!!! Look for new, green weed growth....ANYWHERE!!! The weeds will be full of oxygen, full of baitfish, and full of walleye. Not saying that trolling won't work, but it can be a pain in the butt sometimes if you're close to the weeds where the walleye are. Cast crankbaits close to the weed edge and just to the outside, and rip bucktails right in the weeds or on the edge.
Save the cement plant area for November/December. I've never fished Big Bay in the spring/summer, but I'd say if you can find weeds, you may not have to leave there....

The narrows are good right at dark.
I haven't fished the cement plant much at that time of year, and it's a long run from big bay.
Might be your best shot at a big one though if that's what your after.

Totally agree..... Love to rip jigs and crank stick baits for them eyes. To me, trolling is bbbbbooooorrrrriiinnnggg.
