QUINTE WEST- The body of city man who disappeared last November has been found on a piece of the Bay of Quinte shoreline.

OPP Sgt. Kristine Ray said a resident found the body of Charles Dopking around 4:10 p.m. Sunday.
Rae would not say exactly where the body was found, or who made the discovery.
"The person is now a Crown witness," she said.
The OPP's Emergency Response Team and marine unit scoured bay the last week, but were unable to locate the body.

Dopking was reported missing by a family member around 10 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2013.
Dopking and a man known as Gus or Goose were last seen fishing about 500-metres off shore, south of the Dufferin Street boat launch in Trenton around 6:30 p.m. They had launched the boat on the west side of the Trent River, just south of the Trenton Cold Storage building.
But the mystery surrounding the identity of Gus or Goose appears to be continuing.
Rae would not say if police identified the man.
"We found the only person that we believe to be missing. We are not looking for anyone else," said Rae.

Police initially released a partial description of the boat, saying it was a red aluminum fishing boat with 'Lund' or 'Springbok' written on the side.
Rae added preliminary results from a post-mortem examination conducted at Kingston General Hospital Monday indicate there was no foul play involved in his death.
"The cause of death will not be released," she said.
The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Det. Insp. Paul McCrickard, is continuing the investigation.

If anyone has any information about the death, they are asked to contact Quinte West OPP at 613-392-3561 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

perhaps this "Aaron " guy should have been looked at closer in the beginning.. like we all said...( I hear he is in custody? ) From what I've heard he may have been involved with the wife Charilie? ( this is all hearsay)......I'm NOT accusing anyone before due trial but the incompetence of this investigation MUST NOT go unnoticed. I've seen it done in this area before and it should not go unnoticed, again....

RIP my brother !!! All the best to the family, our hearts go out to you all.

Not sure the investigation was incompetent at all. You are correct we thought the story didn't make sense from the beginning and I am sure the detectives felt the same way but sometimes it's best to play along and try to get the person spinning the yarn to keep talking and get themselves in a hole.

I agree with jjz, in that the investigation may not have been incompetent. We shouldn't mistake the information that went out to the public as a botched investigation, rather an investigation that was not tainted by police theory as this would make for an easy defence, if and when this goes to trial. The police may not release all the information that they have as when they appeal for witnesses they the actual account of the witness and not an account that may have been altered by something they had read in the paper. In the end, as in most cases with families that have been devastated by tragedies like this, the ultimate closure comes with a conviction of someone who is responsible for the crime. If too much went out to the public then that is an easy tactic for the defence counsel to attack, which may end up in a not guilty verdict based on the defence teams smoke and mirrors. When they stated that "he is now a crown witness they mean that any evidence or results of autopsy will be submitted as evidence at the trial. This is obviously a touchy given the history in the area, but I believe it to be a much different scenario then the one that had so much public outcry a few years ago. Just my opinion though. The only aspect that I think undoubtedly we will all agree on, is that a very good man lost his life in a tragic manner... RIP Charlie.

The rumour mill that there was anything going on between Charlie's wife and anyone but Charlie is disgusting and completely groundless. It is revolting what people will resort to, to have something to talk about. Charlie's wife loves him with all her heart and now has to bury him. Please put that preposterous idea to rest. Charlie was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and deserves respect and so does the rest of his family.

As for the investigation, I can tell you that detectives worked their asses off and whatever reasons they have for not reporting details were to protect the case, and has nothing to do with incompetence. They treated this case with utmost care and concern.

I like this picture of Charlie much better than the one in the press. This is Charlie as we knew him, outside in nature. I believe on this day he was hiking with his wife and daughter.
