If the weather co-operates my buddy and I are looking to head down from the Ottawa area and try our luck for a few spring time trout, browns or lakers, we are good with either one. I am trying to decide if we launch at Finkles and try out luck in that area or drive a bit further to Wellington to try our luck. We have never fished either area in the spring.

Just looking for any advide on which area, pros, cons.....???

As of right now it is just me and my one fishing buddy, so we have space for 1 more person, if anyone is interested in going out. Can't promise we will catch anything, but we always have a good time.

Al,

We are planning on Saturday, April 26th, if the weather is co-operative.

I fish both places and its very good for springs trout but % of catching brown is higher at wellington than finkles park.

I would love to but not enough time next weekend. I would like to fish the fall KOTL amateur division or maybe try one of the Port Whitby tournaments this year.

Yes Tyler, we got out for a morning fish. Lake was awesome.

Water still cold in Athol Bay, ran back to fish in front of the Wellington creek. 44 F out front.
Missed one good fish and caught an Atlantic.

No I did not make it out yet last weekend's weather forecast kept us at home looking for crappie.

Considering going this saturday while everyone else is walleye fishing.

We made it out Friday.. It was a bumpy ride out there and no fish to make it any better, but hey we were on the water and not working :). Water was cold 37.5-38 in front of Lafarge and the Power plant so we motored over to the inside of Amherst island where we found 40-44 degree water and started marking some fish.. We worked there until the waves got to big to control the boat and headed in around 1pm.. We had a couple good hits on the boards and riggers working in 30-35' of water, but they were hitting short and got no hook ups..
