Hey. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. My father just gave me his old ultra-light rod from the 60's, a Garcia Conolon with a Mitchell reel from the same era. He gave it to me and told me he wanted it to catch a fish again. My problems are two fold. 3" of the tip broke off and I'm not sure if the rod has dried out too much and will snap the first time there is a fish on. Is there someone who can repair a rod like this and keep it's vintage look? And can someone take a look and see if it's good to fish one last time, or go straight on the wall. Also, the reel has some fairly minor corrosion on the aluminum. Can I strip the paint by sanding and get paint to adhere, or would it be best to get a professional sand-blast and paint it.
I hope no-one here is insulted as dad was when I said how old this rod and reel are!! Haha

Thanks guys, I'm in the Petawawa area, but am in Ottawa and trenton quite frequently.
