I attended the Walleye Seminar Friday night, learned some valuable insights from some very knowledgeable people. Special thanks to Scott, Joe, Jeff and Shawn. As for the opener, it was my best one yet. Although I did not land any big females, I did manage about a dozen males, all on Saturday fishing Trenton and Belleville , all on a deep diving , very lifelike perch minnow rapala with very subtle greenish hues, with no red. Ended up snapping it, by trying to lift a fish up by grabbing the lip of the lure. AT TWELVE BUCKS A LURE, LESSON LEARNED! Biggest fish was about 6 lbs +. I saw lots of male fish caught.....which leaves me wondering where all the females are...and where in the spawn cycle were at ...post...pre? I know from the derby results, that some big females were caught.....just not by me!
