I have a real problem with people giving out false tips and info to push people away from where they want to fish. Any charter captain who did this would be blacklisted by all other skippers. If you don't want to share your true thoughts and expertise then maybe we should refrain from posting. Karma has a funny way of getting even. Honesty or nothing please!!!

Any background to this rant? Haven't seen many posts or reports giving details that seem inaccurate? Are you saying a guide posted inaccurate info ?

I'm saying all saw plenty of post before the opening weekend trying to send people away from certain areas.

Ah I guess I missed that part. Sounds to me like people got fish all over the bay so not sure where there wasnt fish. Tough bite where we were that's for sure.

Looked back and didn't see any miss direction that I could see, Like BigMac said, fish were caught all over the bay. There was one about staying away from Hay Bay area but that was in fun.

I agree with your statement about the misdirection, I would rather see no posts rather than a misleading one. However I would take any posts BEFORE the opener with a grain of salt.....it seemed to me to be in good humour. I will say that even though the guides/charter guys dont post where they are fishing it is somewhat understandable but I would bet if you sent a pm they would probably help you out

I also looked back. I did see one post saying where the fish would not be. When I read it , it was very obvious, at least to me, that it was meant as a light hearted joke. If your on the board for the sole purpose of knowing exactly where the fish are, your missing the point of the board in my opinion. I think at this time of year, there can be fish anywhere(with some exceptions perhaps) in the Bay and they are moving around dependent upon where they are in the spawn cycle. I did very well on the weekend, at two different western end locations, but I think if I went there today, they may have moved off, one Western end location on Sunday ,I fished all day and caught nothing, no garantees, until you try on your own ,you just don't know. As far as the east end and further down the Bay, there are fish there as well, fish for the derby were caught and weighed all across the Bay, from West to East, from North to South....does not mean just because you go there your going to catch them, even if someone else did....too many factors involved , aside from where you go....its just a starting point.

Could you be referring to my post in this thread? viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19266

If you took that to be an attempt to mislead you, you might be too sensitive for this board, let alone the internet.

As an explanation, (because I refuse to apologize) sarcasm / irony are comedic devices used to create a cheeky type of humour. I was being humorous in suggesting that people not fish in the Napanee River during the opener, and in a way acknowledging that may people would still do so. (I also included a slight jab at some earlier posts about changes to free accommodations in Trenton which I thought was hilarious by me) Judging by the number of boats that I saw in the river over the weekend, it seems that only you might have taken that post as a serious attempt to mislead.

Moving on.

I saw this post, it directly influenced my decision to go there. I spent a long time fishing in the napanee river and didn't catch a damn thing...thanks A LOT Billy

I didn't see any mis-directing posts before opener at all. It's all speculation, especially info prior to opener...none of us should know where they are biting before opening day.

Can someone tell me where they will be biting on Saturday?

Ha ha! Sorry about your results on the opener. Ours were about the same. We trolled the river a bit but traffic was a little heavy for our liking so we spent some time in Mohawk Bay. Not much there either. Tough bite seems to be the common theme. We noticed that the pike were still way up in the cat-tails along the shore and still spawning. I think the real action on the Bay will heat up over the next few weeks.

Also, I heard a rumour about someone hitting a submerged dock and blowing up the low end on their outboard. Anyone else hear this? If it's true, I would like to find out where it is before I find out where it is in a bad way.

Well, lesson learned I guess..... I for one never take any info on reports on a public board as gospel, nor would I compare this to a charter guy telling his colleague a flase report of where exactly the fish are. This is fishing not catching as they say, and they're are a whole myriad of reasons whey you got skunked..... I can't believe there is someone complaing about this!!! Do you want to be spoon fed the eaxact coordinates as well? How about I meet you at the launch and physically show you what to use??? Unbelievable.

As i've stated before honey holes should never be posted on a public fourm for the sake of the fishery. Too many meat hunters out there that lurk on here just for specific info (like this example shows) Take what you can out of this board but don't take it literally!!!!! Get a depth chart and pin point area where you think the fish are, much more rewarding imo.

i think the early posts were just people throwing ideas out to see if anyone could confirm there thoughts about where the fish would be, not that it was going to be the hot spot of the weekend. there are only two places that fish will be is in the freezer or in the water, one is easy to catch the other takes a little bit more but is way more fun . better luck next time .

the rumor about someone hitting a submergde dock or something is true as we were maybe 75 yards away and heard them hit something then the smell of gear oil . the guys had a 90hp merc we felt bad for them to end a hard bite weekend that way .

Any chance you'll share where that was? I'd like to avoid it.

I can't even believe this is a thread. The whole bay is loaded with fish. Some places more than others and if you understand walleye then you know where to look. It always feels better when you do your own homework and research.
