Boating/ Camping suggestions

Good Morning Everyone. I'm looking for suggestions for somewhere to take the boat out May 17-19 for the Long weekend. Last year we toured the Rideau Canal from Seeley's Bay to Smiths Falls. Canada Day weekend, Smiths Falls to Hogs Back in Ottawa. So we can check the Rideau Canal system off of our checklist. Any suggestions for a good 2 day boat trip, within 3 hours driving of Smiths Falls would be appreciated. Campsite is not needed as we set up camp in the boat. Looking forward to hear suggestions. You are in an excellent spot to get to anywhere from SF. 45 mins to Brockville and either head east towards cornwall/Montreal, or head west to Gananoque which is a beautiful trip. The Ottawa river, on the north (Petawawa, Matawa)end is relatively empty of people compared to the Rideau, with sand beaches that you can pull up to and have a fire. Just take a look where the dams are, depending on what distance you want to cover. Petawawa or pembroke to Swisha (rapids-de-Joachim) can easily be done in two days and has great views and sites (oiseau rock cliff and lookout). Best of luck!

What about the St Lawrence? Lots to see. Always a place to tuck in out of the weather and can visit places like Alexander's bay or bolt castle on the US side. The islands and scenery is top notch

I agree with Dan. Years ago when I had my cruiser, we would take trips from Wellington to the Thousand Islands with the kids. First stop would be Milton Island just east of Kingston. Good protected cove and maintained by Parks Canada. Next would be Bold Castle (just out from A Bay), to register at U.S Customs. After a tour of the Island and castle , we went around the corner to Mary Island. Great facilities and swimming. Huge cliffs the kids would jump off. Might be a little cool May long weekend though. Alexandria Bay will be party central that weekend. We often ventured to Grenadier Island too. Huge Island with great washrooms, showers etc. On our way home we would stop at Cedar Island. Really cool. We would all have life jackets on, jump in and the current kept taking us around the island to our boat that was anchored. Wellsley Island is another good stop. There are just too many great Islands to visit.
I suggest you put in in Kingston and head east. Navionics or charts are a must have.

Launch where abouts in Kingston? I don't have nav or charts. Where could I pick up charts?

We once put in at the yacht club by the pen. I've got a set that I bought in Alexandria Bay for $60US. Try your local marine supply store. West Marine in Kingston would have them.

U could also just buy the navionics app for your smartphone if you have one. 15$.
