Just a heads up for any board members that plan on fishing Rice Lake for opener, the water levels are still pretty high, and I believe most of the public launches docks are still partially under water. The conditions have improved lately, but still not the best. I would imagine you could still launch, but there may be nothing to tie your boat to.

Good Luck this weekend!!!!

The opener on Rice was good, the water got down to a reasonable level by Saturday and the weather held. For the first time for me weed growth on the lake was minimum, a testament to the hard winter and late spring. Three boats went out from two cottages, good range of fish caught from 14-20+ inches. A number of fish released over slot and a number of accidental bass caught and released. Kept a limit of eaters for a fry. All fish came on copper, silver and chartreuse crawler harnesses. My buddy caught an accidental Muskie in the afternoon, guessing over 20lb, quickly revived and released. It was a good clean healthy fish.

Water level has gone down quite a bit now. Last weekend Sunday, Was very rough. Should be good this weekend. I was catching lots of crappies off the dock and a few Walleye. My boats in at the dock and I will be out there this weekend. I do most of my year fishing Rice Lake. Its always been good to me.

If your up that way.
Lang's Resort (by Roseneath) is a great place to rent a cottage. New owners and very nice people to deal with. They are always willing to help you.
look me up (Send private message) if you swing by. I may be able to put you on a few good spots.
