Im not bashing anyone, there is way to much of that here already. There are a lot of big fish caught that quietly go back in with nothing said. Grant caught a big fish fair and square and chose to post it thats his buisness. If he had kept it he would have been bashed for that to! Sometimes you cant win for losing. I have no idea why people come on here and bash others...it reeks of petty jealousy.

I guess this is why a catch and release record just isn't the same thing as killing a fish to get your name in the books. I guess its like they say. ( seeing is believing ) . when all the evidence you have becomes simple hearsay for sure there will be a lot of NON Believers coming out of the woodwork.
In no way am I saying this is the case with Grant and his fish but when you think about it how hard is it to gather 3 less than honorable friends to say a guy caught a big fish so he can get his name in print his picture in 100 magazines and benefit form countless endorsements all you have to do is say you caught it on triliene line with a rapala lure using a Lund boat netted with a frabril net yadda yadda yadda .
I think if the world catch and release books wanted to save face they should come forward and explain exactly why a record was ousted. it only seems fare since they would allow the story to even hit the news print before it was verified and excepted to begin with!
I for one think they need to look at making a few rules when entering a record to eliminate future hassles adding a simple measuring board would help a lot or at least have a tape measure with you while fishing. simply put a picture just isn't enough even if you do have 3 witnesses who will testify the story to be truth whole truth and nothing but the truth. because now its not just Grant we are talking about but also his witnesses are made out to be less than honorable by having a record denied or dis allowed .
We may never know the whole story this is why I say the record keepers need to be held accountable just as much as the fisherman who makes an entry also ANYONE who printed a story leading people to believe also need to print a follow up story. I almost hope I never catch a fish that big so ill never have to go thru the crap Grant must be going thru right now if in fact his record was tossed out for what ever reason they may have.

I do not doubt that Grants fish is legit , but meeting the criteria of th IGFA is a whole different story , most don't know to enter a fish you have to first purchase a kit from them and follow there very strict rules , the kit has a bump board and directions on how the photos are to be taken along with the fact you have to send samples of your line and leader material along with witnesses signatures , look it up
International Game fish Association , these are the gate keepers for new records , records have been refused before for line that was 8 lb test from the box that tested out over 9 lb , go figure

Hey Paul,
I havent heard one way or the other if Grants' fish was denied. He very seldom posts and he is not banned.

I contacted the the "Fresh Water Hall of Fame" and asked if Grants' fish was a record. I received a very quick response back. Here it is word for word.

"Although we initially approved Mr. McAllister’s record application, additional information came to our attention and this initial approval was rescinded. Mr. McAllister’s record application was not approved.

Thank you for your inquiry."

"additional information came to our attention" ....

who wants to bet five bucks that the additional information didn't come from Grant.

likely some sour grapes.

glad Patrick Noon didn't have to go through this crap.
