Quinte Fishing

Hey everyone, I was looking for some advice for transitioning into summer fishing from shore. Since the walleye opener I've been fishing from Victoria park in Belleville on the Moira with much luck lots of walleye, a crazy large sheepshead(16lbs),gar pike, and a big surprise my first ever Muskie which was just over 22lbs. Was one hell of a fish.

Fishing there has seemed to die off for me with the weeds starting to pile up. So I'm looking for a new place to move to but not sure where. If I had my way I would like to continue targeting walleye or maybe some nice size pike. This is really my first year I've put any time into fishing from shore and with the luck I've had this year I'm kicking my self that I didn't start years ago.

With the bass opener 3 weeks away I know there's potential then too but any tips or advice would be great.

If you are near Kingston here are a few places
Shoreline Fishing around Kingston, Ontario
These are all within 15-20 minute drive (from downtown Kingston):
• The Collins Bay Pier off hwy 33 (Bath Rd just west of Collins Bay Rd) for LGM, Pike & carp. Also has a boat launch for small-med sized boats.
• Kingston Mills, top & bottom for Bass, Pike, carp, panfish & some crappie near the top.
Perch & Pike will do their spawning run up to the 1st lock. Perch have tended to be on the small side with the odd 8-10 incher.
Salmon will run up to the Power Station.
• 20 minute drive north on hwy 15 to the Lower Brewers Locks on the lower side for Pike, Bass, carp & panfish. Small boat launch on the north side.
• Dog Lake in Battersea. Take Montreal rd out of Kingston (turns into Battersea Road), into Battersea, over the small bridge, first right onto Wellington Street, follow 5 min to the end. You'll pass a public boat launch (called the Shipyards). Don't fish inside that small bay as its a Fish Sanctuary. At the end you can park your car at the turnaround and walk 5min through the pines to the point for Bass and Pike. Beautiful spot as the sun comes up, you’ll hear loons starting to cry...
• 30 Minute drive just NW of Sydenham at Gould Lake. This is a conservation area, please do visit the link for info. (Fee/permit parking.) Trails along both side of the lake allow you to hike in to a nice selection of Deep shoreline spots. Small/Largemouth bass and panfish. Canoe/kayak rentals available. This has become a new and favourite spot, scenic and quiet.
• Drive north on Division (turns into Perth Road) up to Opinicon Road (then drive east for a bit), or go further up to Buck Lake.
• 30 min drive from Kingston just past Gananoque off the 1000 Is. Parkway into Ivy Lea, fish off the immigration pier for Bass, Pike, Muskie, perch & Carp. Also on the parkway for nice perch early after ice-out. Good spots for bass, pike, catfish.

Lake Ontario near the KGH on King Street for Pike, some Bass, Perch and Carp.
The small bay next to the Dupont plant on Front Rd (King St. W.) for Pike, Carp & Bullhead.

I too shore fish and with the water being so much higher this year my usual spots don't work and I have had luck this year in places I never have! But my fishing has been much better over all as well. Sounds like I am fishing the same places though as you can I ask what you caught the walleye on and was it night time? On opener I watched them pull em out right in front of me all day but I couldn't quite cast out to where they were getting them. Spinners over those weed beds you mentioned work great in the fall but right now you would only see smallies I would think which are out of season.

Last year I had some decent success right off the pier at zwicks but I have not been this year yet and you don't always get a spot to fish.

This year I have just been guessing where to go and it's hit and miss.

That's how I was starting out. Never really having fished off shore in Belleville just followed where i seen people then everything fell into place. Pretty much every fish I've caught this year was on minnow baits. X-raps and huskie jerks were the best. Most fish were caught just after dark.

This was the only spot I ever seemed to have luck at and now I haven't been catching anything so looking to move into the next spot but just not too sure where just yet haha
