I have a Navionics chip and hoping to print off a map of Moira Lake. I've web searched and it states I need special software to do so.

Anyone know of any free-ware that I can use to do this with?

Cheers,

Paul

If the chip you have has moira lake on it then you might be able to "print Scrn" button on your keyboard. Open the map to the area you want to print the hit the print scrn button. Then open a graphics program on your computer (most windows computers have a program called "Paint". Open paint then press "Ctrl" and "v" at the same time

Thanks Dan.

The file format is .nv2 (Navionics) so cannot view with MS applications. Reading on-line, it states I need a special viewer and card reader.

I can see the map files and have downloaded a free-ware file viewer but still comes up with garbage text and no graphics.

Cheers

Anything you have on your card or mobile app will be on the web app at http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp

You are saying you have a Moira on your card but not on The web app?

I was always told that if you put a Navionics card in a computer it would be locked or somehow destroyed. I have never seen Moira on a chip.
The map they have for Stoco is copied from a 1968 map that was used for determining water volume and not very accurate. If you click on sonar view in the Web App the soundings came from someone's vision while on drugs and compound the errors. Navionics has never surveyed our local lakes and rely on other sources.

There is a paper map for Moira which like Stoco is an old 1968 water volume map. You might be able to get from MNR or their website.

You can put your card in an SD reader no problems. In fact that is how all updates are done.

I agree some of the lakes sonar charts are off. But the beauty of sonar charts is we all hold the key to making it better. Just get out there and record your sonar logs.

I will be hosting a sonar charts event on West Lake in a few weeks and will have a little briefing showing how to record your logs and then how to upload them to navionics.com. I will be posting details shortly and you are welcome to attend if you have any questions about the sonar charts process.

Sorry....no, I didn't see Moira Lake. I just got the chip and was hoping to get a printed map of that lake for some friends.

I've been away so too late now but again, thanks everyone.

Cheers
