Members,

The Belleville Cops, Kids fishing derby will take place on Saturday June 14th, 2014 from 09:00 to noon at Victoria Park. Once again the derby will be free to the little anglers, the derby will include hat/Sunglasses (to protect their head/eyes), free lunch and a guaranteed prize, there are trophy's for largest fish, smallest fish and most unusual thing caught based on age & gender. There will also be a longest cast and most accurate case competition with trophy's for age & gender as well. First 200 anglers registered will get free T-Shirt. We are hoping to once again give out free ice cream to the little ones for an hour, also have a balloon clown lady coming this year.

This program is all volunteer driven and if we get assistance from local anglers (board members) we will try to get a livewell full of fish for kids to observe they love it. In the past we have had lot's of volunteers to help with everything from financial donations, catching fishing, setting up live well, putting rods together for little ones, helping on the docks with kids catching fish, putting worms in cups the list goes on and on. If you would like to help out please let me know. I am willing to accept ideas too, the derby is getting bigger all the time. We started out with 75 kids seven years ago and last year we had 400 kids.

if all goes well we will have lot's of kids smiling, and provide some good family time away from video games/T.V sets.

Thanks in advance,

Pat (my hat goes off to all those that volunteer with kids---thanks)

Calling all fisherman,
The Cops, Kids derby is fast approaching and I could use some help from members of this board, I need some help catching fish the morning of the derby so we can put fish in the livewell for the kids. In the past we have been able fish for Bass but the permit we got from the ministry only allows fish that are in season. We can put Pike and Walleye in the live-well along with rock bass/perch and sheephead (if you can find one alive). If you can help out please head out early and bring your fish to Victoria Park on the west side by the docks. I’ll be at South George dock at 5:30ish

Let me know at pcomeau@police.Belleville.on.ca

Thanks for all your support now and in the past……..
Pat
