Just caught a tagged large mouth off my dock on BOQ. Should I report this fish to the MNR?

This is probably a fish tagged by Dr. Bruce Tufts at Queen's University. I do some work for him. You can email him the info at tuftsb@queensu.ca. . thanks for taking an interest in the fish tagging

My understanding is the new program is fish monitoring, so they have a tracker chip in them. (like a barcode) when the fish passes threw markers they have placed all over the bay it gets picked up.

it would be interesting to see the movement of a smallie ripped out of the deep water in lake ontario and weighed in belleville.

released a great distance where it was taken.

does it take a day to get back? a week?

I managed to scrape the algae off the tags and it appears that they are from Queens University. I'm assuming that it was tagged by Dr. Tufts. I will submit the info on the tags to him an post his comments on this forum when I hear back from him.

Steve Hamilton... I attended a recent seminar of Bruce Tufts and it was said a tagged smallie was reported caught again in Brockville only several days to a week later after tagging.
