I only fish Quinte from shore until ice up and was looking to order the Hot Spots map but unfortunately the page is not available.

I'm planning a trip to Trenton, Hwy. 33 down by the lake. Was wondering if anyone can share some info on catching some of the lunkers over there as I'd love to take some pics for the wall...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attila

Launch out of Picton...Launch is right beside BayView Inn. Bring salt for ramp as it is freezing up now.

Trollling in Picton Bay is hot right now. If weather permits you can go out more into the bay and towards the cement plant.

Rogues and Husky Jerks are good baits to use. Remember, the baitfish are big this time of year, so your baits should be as well.

Maybe I should clarify....I'm only fishing from shore.

Thanks for the lure suggestions, I'll be sure to try them out.

Any other locations apart from the "pier" in Trenton?

You can fish from the dock at the Picton Launch site, but they may chase you away, not supposed to fish there, MANY DO.

There's another spot beside the east ferry site at Adolphoustown, next to launch ramp. off the breakwater, Kinda windy there if it blows from the North or North-west.

I have heard of people casting form the dock at the Desronto Launch site also, I believe the dock is permanent.

There's some places to check out

Use the big stick baits.

You can try under the Bay Bridge in Belleville. I'v seen a number of people fishing on the north side over the last few weeks. At the lights of Hwy2 in Belleville (Dundas St), take Bay Bridge road south to Prince Edward County. Before going over the bridge, turn left at the lights. The road will "T" (parking lot for the dog park is straight ahead), go right. Follow road around until you are under the bridge. There is a spot to park. Grab your gear and walk south down the old roadway to the end, and there is a neckdown area where ther used to be an old swing bridge. This area will stay open, even some years into the (lately unsafe) ice fishing season. This year may be an exception, as I expect the bay itself west of the Bay Bridge to be iced by the weekend.

Bait and tackle can be purchased in Rossmore. Go south over the Bay Bridge to Rossmore. At the bottom of the bridge, turn right, and there will be a gas station/small engine repair/bait shop on your left side, across from an auto body shop.

You can also fish on the Rossmore side of the bridge. As you travel back to the bait shop, just before the lights at the base of the bridge, turn north onto Ridley street. There is a launching ramp there, with parking. Park, grab your gear and walk north down the path to the water. It's probably best to fish the east side of the bridge here. Don't fish off of the bridge, as it's posted against doing so because a couple of people fell in this summer and drowned.

Kinda wordy..... but details usually are.

Let us know how you do / where you go.

Just wanted to say thanks to the gentlemen who posted.

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge of the area and I hope that I can do you proud by catching some large fish.

Attila, you may want to call ahead before you make your way down to the Bay to fish from shore. There's been a few postings indicating the Bay is now frozen in front of Belleville and quite a ways east. The launch area at Tip of the Bay in Picton is frozen solid now as well.

Well told Paulie. The bay around the Bay Bridge in Belleville is now stiff. Hopefully.... A) we will have some more warmer weather to allow for some additional open water fishing, or B) it will continue to be cold so that we can all walk out and fish on some early SAFE ice.

The first freeze-up typically issues up some jokes regarding Darwin's theory of evolution. Please ensure that there is adaquate ice, especially in the neck-down current areas, before venturing out on the ice.....

I'll try to post ice thicknesses in the Belleville area as I experience them, though I may not be venturing out until a week or so after the early dodo's.

I have been out on ice about 2 inches thick. In my experience this is my guidelines.

2 " is the minimum you want...
4 " rest easy
6 " no worries
12 " small cars and stuff (but I wanted drive on ice).

good advice thank you, ill keeo it in mind.... i just have to say it is too bad that some ppl choose to learn the hard way...full grown adults going out on thin ice is really dumb when you think about how dangerous it is...my sons aged 7 + 12 just went out the other nite ...they aren't from around here so i guess they thought they were in the clear til they both went thru about a 100ft out ..at this moment im thankful for a few things..1 it was monday and not tuesday as the ice would have been thicker further out and that the quinte is a relatively shallow water along the shore lines...my kids were thoughtless and lucky to be here...but i can expect dummy stuff from kids who have no experience in these conditions ...there is no excuse for an adult to have something like this happen to them....they will get the bonehead of the year award if they survive for sure...happy fishing yall
