Quinte Fishing

Hi everyone. I find myself in the market for a new fishfinder/gps combo. I primarily fish walleye and wanted to get some real world opinions. My budget is $1400.00 or less.

Lowrance Elite 7 with CHIRP - lots of stuff and you don't have to be a computer whiz.

I-pilot only works with Hummingbird. That said, I have a Lowrance elite and really like it, but wish I had a Hummingbird to work with my i-pilot.

I got the bird 998 HDSI and love it! Add the nav plus to whichever unit you decide to get. You won't be disappointed!

I have Humminbird 385 Ci, BassPro recommended that I go with Nav Gold plus but I see on the forums they recommend going with Nav Premium.

This is a nice unit. It's a bit about your price range. But I know this site usually has discount codes on their facebook you can use. I used one for my downriggers I purchased earlier this year.

Thanks. I picked up an hds 7 touch bundle on Saturday and a 101 bow mount minnkota with I pilot. Cheers

In most applications for anglers in these parts the Navionics plus is the card to buy.

Check on Navionics.com if the Navionics plus card is compatible with the Humminbird 385 Ci. If it isn't then the hotmaps premium is your card of choice.

The I-Pilot-Link is a $900 upgrade on top of the Humminbird head unit and i-pilot trolling motor.

It also requires Lake Master maps - add another $200. Oh but wait, they don't have maps for Canada - not even Lake Ontario!

Maybe one day this solution will actually apply to Canadians.

If you pay another $250, you can make your own maps from your sonar recordings. If you spend alot of time on the same water, this option might actually work for you.

Yikes... Thanks for that info. I was thinking about changing to a Hummingbird, but I'll stick with my Lowrance after hearing that.

Thanks for the info. I did purchase the navionics for my area. So my setup now is a lowrance hds 7 touch. I did get a terrova 101 with I pilot. I can still use the remote and heading with spot lock.
