Quinte Fishing

Hey Guys,
New to the boards and looking to try my luck this year out in the Bay. I am well versed in Bass fishing but this will definetly be a change. Currently getting new LUND rigged up and ready .

My question is about line selection, I plan on pulling the big cranks on planer boards. I purchase 4 of the Cabela's DM3 8'6 combos.

What is the general consensus on line selection for this technique and baits? 20 lb. braid?

I've been using a four rod spread,
2 outside rods are 30 braid with a 25 ft fluorocarbon leader (25 lb)
2 inside rods use the 30 braid as backing, 5 colour lead core (30 lb) and the 25 ft leader
I use the lead core for the inside rods so the bait is deeper and any fish on the outside rod in come in behind the boat over the deeper running inside bait
Use td11 on one side and reef runners on the other side, I think this helps me zero in on a colour,type of bait, and depth that is hot that day.
Start my troll at 1.6 mph, will vary up to 2.2 if nothing hitting
Pretty new to this myself, but I do get some fish

Rob...what a great reply, very interesting with the inner lead core, I would not have thought of that but it makes perfect sense.

Looks like I will miss my annual trek to the Bay this year...wife has me slated for a Caribbean Cruise instead...how many colours of lead core do you think I should run off the back of that vessel, and she thinks I am serious

12lb mono and 12lb fluoro leader for me. I like the stretch in the mono to prevent hooks from pulling out of lightly hooked fish. Sometimes I'll use braid on a flatline so I can see the action of the lure through the rod tip, but I don't think braid is really necessary for trolling for Walleye, and mono is a heck of a lot cheaper.

i run 30lbs braid with 17lbs flouro leads (about 15' in length).

long leads with mono on boards can sometimes be difficult to see smaller walleye on the boards.

12 lb mono, no leader needed. If walleye were line shy, they wouldnt swim into gill nets. Simpler, the better

Run 40lb braid to 12lb floro leads.

12 pound mono for flatlining crankbaits.

30 pound braid backing then 2, 3 or 5 colours of lead and then 50 foot mono leader on other rods
