Is Saturday's 25 km SW wind forecast doable for east of the ferry in an 18ft Starcraft ? 15 HP Yamaha to troll with ? 115 to get out and back. Haven't been down all year and this is the only date I can do it. Thanks for any and all replies. Will be two of us,one set of planer boards and 2 elec downriggers set at 25 feet is the plan.

you will be fine on the southern shore, but only you know your boat so take precautions

If you look at a map of the Bay you'll see from the ferry to just before Keiths it may not be too bad on the south side. The shoreline kinda blocks the SW wind. Once you get past Keiths the shoreline changes direction and there is no protection from a SW wind. You should be alright in the 18 footer, but keep an eye on the hourly wind forecasts and the gust speeds. I'd definitely say there will be white caps.

Be safe!!!

It originally looked like Friday and Saturday were going to be okay weather / wind wise .. but I just checked Environment Canada marine forecast and I m not so sure now ... looks like a lot of wind still ... I'm still waiting for light winds and calm seas to get in another shot !
