I'm going to be there as well on Friday morning and was thinking of taking the Glenora Ferry across and putting in at that ramp .. I've not yet gotten any responses when I asked about that ramp.... we do plan on fishing from the Ferry to Keith's Shoal and further towards the Bat Cave.. where ever we get into fish that's where we'll stay ..... hopefully we get into them !! I ll be in a grey Lund with red stripe ... Blue Suburban ... if we see you there we can exchange cell phone numbers in case we get into fish or if one of us needs help !

On Friday, Dec 5 the Glenora Ferry launch was good. Got in there at about 10 am and out at 5 pm. There were 4 other trucks and trailers parked that had obviously launched before us. We fished from the Ferry to the Bat Cave and back. We trolled all day. First fish came on an inside rod before we even made it to Keith's .. it was a 30 inch walleye, looked like a football and it hit on an orange colored Reef Runner, 175 back with a 2 ounce snap weight 25 feet ahead of the lure. Fish released - too big ! We were marking a lot in that area so we stayed for a bit with nothing else hitting then we continued on towards the Bat Cave.

Our second fish came on an outside line.. that one hit a deep diving Tail Dancer 250 back with a 1 ounce snap weight ahead of the lure and we had the planer board set way out from the boat. We also had the drift socks out for that one. I felt we were faster than everyone else out there so I threw them out to slow us down. Once again it was a big female, a quick measurement and she was a bit over 30 and back she went. Still no dinner !

So down to what I've always referred to as The Bat "Cave". We trolled the middle without success and then moved in closer to shore and nothing . I'd always thought that there were 'doors' into the green structure and railings that were there but upon getting closer it looked like just a big green steel deck or platform of some sorts. Does anyone know what it is or why its there ? And am I correct in calling this "The Bat Cave" ? No fish right there so back towards the Ferry.

As we were making our way back towards Keith's Shoal our attention was drawn to a fellow fishing out of a kayak. We were watching him and commenting on how cold he must be and how 'crazy' he was to be out there alone. I figured he was local and 'must' know what he's doing and was was proficient in that small kayak. We had all the comfort items in my boat.. top and sides, 2 heaters, comfy seats, pizza, radio and this guy was out there in a kayak... he seemed to having fun, moving around and fishing as we were... we were so busy watching him no one noticed the hit on one of the rods. We had 4 planers going at this point without drift socks and I noticed an inside planer on its side and back. Checked the rod and sure enough fish. That one hit a Yo Zuri crystal minnow deep diving bait. No weights on the line and the lure was orange. A smaller fish than the two previous ones and the fish took the whole lure deep. It was around 26 inches and bleeding bad. We ended up keeping this one for dinner.

We got back to the launch and were the last of the boats to pull out. Launch was still good, didn't even have to throw salt or sand down, the boat came out no problem. A quick Ferry ride across then the drive home. I tried to talk my Buddies into staying the night in Napanee and fishing today but knuckleheaqd # 2 had dinner plans tonight so he had to get home. I will see if one of the kids can post a few pictures for me later.

I was going to put the boat away this week but am tempted to keep it ready in case we can get back again next week ! Cheers..

Thanks for sharing Frenchie

The Bat Cave is on the south shore, it's a large gap in the cliff with docks. don't recall doors.

Cheers

Wahoo you rock it EEF, that kayak was a Ottawa boy and he is a master angler out of that yak!
he ain't crazy he's a walleye angler just like you are, holds the record for the biggest walleye taken out of a kayak!
Paddle on Brother, hope we can get out together before the end of the open water season!
Bring it!
