we use over nighters at least 3 times a season. The best one last year had fishing slot holes to either side of a combo propane stove and heater in the center directly in front of the door. Two benches for each hole so that it slept four comfortably. A fold up table above optional hole covers also allowed some flexibility. But the earlier location comment is crucial, catching fish comes first.
Post when and where you set up, we will come and support you in your first year for sure.

Things are moving ahead, I have been talking to the Quinte West municipal government to ensure I that all my Ts are crossed and i's are dotted and meet any by laws and licensing requirements.

This week I will be prettying up my existing huts and building new huts. I have been busy picking up furnaces, stoves and lighting for my huts.
I'm having some trouble picking a name for my business (any suggestions). Leaning towards something simple like Middlewick's Adventures or Richardson's Outdoor Adventures

Finding insurance has also been a challenge. I have spoken to some of the outfitters on Nipissing to find out what they do. Some don't have insurance and just have the renters sign a liability waiver, while others do have insurance, which they say is very costly.
I don't feel comfortable not having insurance to cover my butt, so will be shopping around this week.
I will keep you updated.

Just FYI; it is my understanding and I can be corrected, that a waiver is only a piece of paper. It does nothing if it comes down to lawyers fighting it out in court over a significant settlement.

Be careful if you go down that road.

The huts are coming along a little slowly, work and hunting keep getting in the way. :D
I will ad some pictures when I get them to that point, not yet, too plain at this point.

Tomfoolery, you are correct, the waiver would cover me from mistakes made by the customer but wouldn't cover me from my equipment or negligence, which is why I'm semi stalled at the point. I will not move ahead or invest too much more money until the insurance is in place.
I have calls out to a few companies and am still awaiting quotes.

Do you have to have washroom faclities like one's up north? Or is it optional?

There will be washroom facilities. They won't be anything luxurious but it is definitely a necessity.

Good luck!

How is the fishing overnight? Are there laws against drinking alcohol on the ice overnight as there are during the day?

I've never done an overnight ice trip. Done a few summer/fall trolls though.

I've never had the option of fishing over night on the Bay, but I would assume that there would be fish that would hit during the night. We shall see. Not only will I be renting these out but I will be staying over myself whenever I can.
There are rules for drinking on the ice. I have spoken to members of the OPP that have stopped at my huts and have been told that you need the 3 key things to be considered a residence. Washroom facilities, cooking setup and sleeping quarters.
Most will tell you that you are supposed to keep the booze inside, but the CO that frequents our huts on Rice lake tell us that the hut is like a tent when camping which allows you to drink in the general vicinity, but I think if people aren't confrontational and there aren't empties laying around the ice, then there shouldn't be a problem.
I'm sure I'll be proven wrong though, lol.

Just curious. Will there be ample over night parking available where your huts will be?

I will find out on Wed. I have a meeting with the Quinte West planning dept. to try to get a bylaw variance to allow overnight parking on city property for my customers.
