I use 10lb braid as a main line with a 2' 10lb fluorocarbon leader. I tie the main line and leader together with a micro swivel and use a snap swivel to attach the lures
The micro and snap swivels are both chrome colour............
Does the swivel colour really matter?

If you're using a micro swivel from the mainline to the leader, you don't really need a snap swivel at the lure. Just a snap will be fine, as you don't need 2 swivels. Just a little less bulk at the lure.

I agree and do the same. I used to use braid but found it absorbs water then freezes making it difficult to unspool.

Is the general consensus to tie your jig "naked" or use a snap swivel if your already using a swivel to attach your mainline to flouro? I always tie naked but would be much quicker using a snap swivel when changing jigs.

I use braid as my main line. When in a hut it works great. On cold days and hole hopping outside the hut. Braid freezes up fast and becomes a pain. When I hole hop and fish outside in cold I will use floro with a snap swivel. That allows me for quick change lures. When in a hut. I will use braid and then use a barrel swivel to connect a 2 ft floro lead that I will connect my lure with just a snap because the barrel swivel already covers the line twist.

Invisaswivels work nice. And I never use a snap, always tie lure on.

You jig a spoon or rip a minnow rap for a couple hours and your line is a tiny bit twisted haha

I tie a 3-4 foot flouro leader so that some of the flouro is in the reel preventing knot situations that can occur when getting a fish on the ice. I have a quality swivel tied with a 1 foot peice below to the lure on a snap. If its a jigging rap i tie direct

ahhhhh interesting, but a regular snap swivel wouldent prevent line twisting instead of running just a swivel?

It will, but if you use a swivel to connect your mainline to your leader to avoid line twist, then you don't need a snap swivel at the lure. You can use just a small snap to make it easier to switch lures, or tie direct without having the bulk of a snap swivel at the lure. Not sure if the fish can actually see the snap swivel, but that's what most people seem to believe...lol
