There's nothing wrong with people posting ice conditions. It helps give people an idea if there is any point to even going and roughly what to expect if they do.

Helping and educating people to check for themselves and how to do it properly comes out of these threads and is the most important thing of all. Because ultimately we make our own judgement for what is safe and what is not everytime we step out onto the ice.

Biff your right when you said people from out of town are wanting ice reports, I think its great you went to the time and trouble to check and post what you found. whether its 2" or 20" its the information I want to make the call whether to make the trip or not. thanks for doing it!..... Hanco

Unless you know someone well enough to go by their advice, never take info, especially about ice conditions on a public forum as gospel. Follow the weather, snow accumulation, and check it out for your self to determine if it is what you consider to be "safe"

Usually when you see several reports with pics on here it can give you a rough idea where the ice is at.....
It will be soon, very soon...... Guys here getting itchy!!!! Lol
