Newer to the area and I'm not even real close as im in Cobourg but wondering how the perch fishing is from Presquele east or any tips on where to start. I Don't have a lot to spend as a separation takes half but I try and do as much with my boys when I have them. I do have a portable hut but can't really afford a rental. Where would you go? Oh and hello to all on the forum.

Cheers TJ

Once safe ice is here for fishing I would go anywhere out toward indian island located out from Trenton. easy access off the end of dufferin st........lots of perch a few pike and chance at walleye as well. Bit of a hike out there however

Big Ugly.....Welcome to the Forum!.......Lots of Perch in the Bay of Quinte.Often found closer to shore than Walleye ,so you wont have to venture out as far.Although there are numerous areas,I would suggest Potters Creek,Onderdonks,Big Bay(Point Anne or Wagers Farm).I mention these areas because at least on weekends there will likely be others around, which is not a bad idea in unfamiliar areas. Also north of Cobourg there is Rice Lake and I would suggest Bewdley and Gores Landing ,again for the same reasons.(Walleye is closed on Rice but not Perch ,it is open year round)These suggestions are for when things freeze up a little more, though with the cold snap ,we are perhaps getting closer to better ice conditions. This board will help you with that, but check conditions yourself as well. Also in Ontario there is usually a winter version of Family weekend that caters to youngsters, you will find more information on this event on the internet.Good luck :P

Years ago I used to fish Brighton Bay and get a lot of perch through the ice. We used to go straight out from Gosport and join the others.

I caught 10 perch in about a half hour this morning just off of pete's point. There is a weed bed about 300 or 400 ft to ff of shore, thats where i was.
