fished out of bayside area near the lighthouse but not in the channel, north of it. I dont how much ice was in the channel. We were set up and fishn by 2pm on 8 inches of clear clear ice. You could see your bait flashing as you jigged it 10-12 feet down. We were in 13-14 ft. Not 5 minutes in a decent mark comes in and looks , I was even able to get it to follow up about 4 feet but then it left. Then for the next couple hours nary a mark. Just before dark had a good mark come in and it just flew off the bottom and smashed a gold 3/8 buckshot tipped with 2 small minnows. short battle and first fish, of the season for me, on the ice at about 3 lbs. Hit a lull then started seeing some perch. Pesky things. There were 4 or 5 of them at the same time. I was trying to get them to follow my bait up to the hole so I could peek down and see them. Got one to about 5 feet but could'nt see the fish just my bait. The fish left but I kept jigging just 5 feet from the hole and a couple moments later it comes back and hits the bait and I got it. A small pound and a half eye. With fish still showing on the screen, as quick as I can unhook the dink and rebait the buckshot and drop it back down as I know now there not perch but walleye. Another eye hits it, it was about 6 lbs and I be darned if I could get his head up the hole. lost it right at the hole but it was pretty cool watching him fight and swim in circles through the clear ice. There were still fish on the screen so again as guick as I could, baited and dropped down and another fish on. This one came unhooked part way up. And that was it. A quick flurry of fish and it was all over. Cant wait to get back out, I hate work lol
