BOQ area has some huge largemouth bass, was fishing the mouth of Murray Canal in the early summer and saw a family fishing on the marsh side of the canal. One of the kids hooked a really big largemouth bass, and the older brother got the net and attempted to land the fish before Dad could get to them. The fish got into the net ok but a hook caught the net as well, and the fish dropped back into the water just after they brought the net up to the height of the pier. We got a good look at it and man, we felt so bad for them because the bass was one of the largest I've seen in a long time. It was close to 8 lbs for sure. They're out there!!

Sounds like a nice fish, but i don't feel sorry for them. It probably would
have ended up in the pan or worse just killed to show others the fish.
Glad it's back in the swim :!: :!: 8)

A little known fact about how the rocket came to be called the rocket. As some of the local guys reading this board might think it was because of that one-off bassboat Rob used to have. Granted it was fast, infact, like a rocket and thus the nickname right?? But not so. I have this video of Rob in his younger years. He was out partying one night with the boys and playing with those 'Rocket firecrackers' . You know the kind. The rocket is attached to a stick which you stick in the ground , then light it. They blast off then go bang. Well anyway Rob was playing with them one night and he had a bit of an incident in which he earned his nickname The Rocket Here's a link to the video. HEY ROB I hope you dont mind us all having a laugh at your expense. I'll buy ya a beer next time I see ya. :P :P :P
Oh yea this video is PG-13 dont show the little ones.

I see we are all having fun,my buddy COOLY,informed me of what was going on,that's OK,it's good to have fun, once in awhile, and have a few laugh's,we all need that,as far as beating that record fish,I'm sure it will be,as soon as Cooly finds another one for me,or him to catch, about ten mins. after we caught that 7.28 Momma,we seen one about two pounds bigger,I bounced a bait off of her nose about 20 times, but no luck,so as you can see, they are out there, there are also some Smallies that big out there,so,everyone keep trying, and good luck trying to beat the record....Sincerly...The One And Only...ROCKET! 8)

Big O,
I was wondering when some of the guys would start to pick up on this post. Just wanted to let those who dont know rocket that he is not really the guy in the video but does have the nickname Rocket. I saw this video and thought I would take a few liberties and tie the 2 together. Man I wonder what that kid was smoking to even think of trying that. You knew he was screwed once the sparks hit his butt and he clinched up. There was no way he could loosen up to let that puppy go lol! :D :D :D
