Depends how deep you usually fish.
Some examples:
In 30 ft with a 9 deg your area coverage is 4.7 ft diameter at bottom. In 30 ft with a 19 deg your area coverage is 10 ft diameter at bottom.
In 100 ft with 9 deg your area coverage is 15.7 ft diameter at bottom. In 100 ft with 19 deg your area coverage is 33.5 ft diameter at bottom.
Bottom line, I pick 19 deg for Quinte Walleye and 9 deg for lake trout in deep lakes.

Before you buy a new transducer make sure you first try the following: 1. Clean the bottom of the transducer. 2. Make sure all connections are good. 3. Make sure your batty is fully charged. 4. If your unit is in the 10 yr range, you may have a brush or LED dimming issue due to its age. 5. Check out Vexilar troubleshooting on their web page.
