Hi all.
I am gonna tell a story and it's a little bit long.
0400 this morning my partner from london shows up with his son. That's ok he didn't realize we were going in a 2 man tourney and I can't send him home, and I think Ron will probably understand and let him come in the boat as long as we only use 4 or 2 rods. We drive 300 k and stop for gas just before Trenton. I am a little groggy and my right trailer wheel hits the curb protecting the pumps, just a little but it pulls the whole set of wheels almost off. So the wheels are now pointing about 30 degrees to the left of the trailer. I did not curse once. I back up and the wheels align almost straight so I get it away from the pumps and leave it there. I know Ron is waiting at the Desoronto launch for me and I think he might know someone who can help. I drive the 60 k to meet him and I am on time. He hands me 4 bright shiny lures which I had ordered and I know everything is going to be ok and I will eventually have a hot day. We passed a Home Depot so we thought we could scrounge up some patrs and fix the trailer. We do, and the trailer is good to go, now 1000 am. The launch however is not Desoronto but one that is 30 k past picton as the bite was hot yesterday. I should also mention that at this point we are haveing good luck as the trailer was broken for quite some time and the wheels could quite easily have come off on the highway. We get to the new launch at 1100 am and the boats are coming off the water, big nasty waves and dark sky to the north. I decide to call it a day and go home. We get into Picton and the water is now calm. HMMMM. I look at the launch and think my little 3.0 litre caravan might not pull my 18.5 cuddy back out. Hmmm. New problem, I only have 2 lifejackets. We meet a couple of guys coming off the water and they sell us a very nice lifevest for for 20 bucks. Talk about luck. It's all good so far. Thanks guys. We were fishing just past the ferry at 1210 pm. I am pumped, just a little chop and I have 4 hot Cranks. We're feeling good. Fish till 1530. No fish and very little marked. We covered 40 ft to 22 ft. Now it's time to see if the 3.0 litre will do her job, beautifull we are on the road back to Ingersoll by 1600. We are now on the 407 by the 400 and I am climbing a hill, the 3.0 litre drops down a gear and we climb it like home sick angel, unfortuneately she never goes back into drive. We are now driving 150 k at 100 kliks and third never shows up. My luck still holds up and I am backing the boat into the driveway at 2015. Oh Oh reverse is making some very strange noises. Into the tranny shop on monday. We drove 960 K today and fished for 3 and 1/2 hours with a few glitches. It was a good day as I didn't have to sit in front of the TV and watch fishing shows.
I would like to thank Ron for waiting for us and it was good to meet him. I wish we would have shook hands with the other guys and intoduced ourselves but I guess we will do that next June at Ron's next Tourney.
How did Dan do?

Cheers Clark

Like, it could have been worse, eh?

You might have had car troubles going to work...

Clark...

Great to see you looking at the positive side of the trip  . Also glad to hear that you got out for a few hours fishing on Quinte. I hope to meet up with you at the tourney Ron is planning for June. When Dan and I trolled by the launch on Sunday at 2pm there where no vehicles left in the parking lot -- so we missed everyone.

All the best with your future Quinte trips...

Can you calculate the price per pound of fish, and compare it to the fish market?

Hi all.
Pete roughly 1500.00 for no fish so I am thinking 1lb could well be worth 1,000,000.00, although in a tournement situation I can't even seem to buy a fish no matter the cost. It's all in good fun and the things that happened to me would have happened no matter what I was doing regardless of the Quinte expedition. My expenses per lb of moose and deer is also quite high, but it sure is fun trying.
Cheers Clark
